Anthony Veder Expands LNG Fleet
Dutch gas carrier operator Anthony Veder said it is expanding its fleet with a 30,000-cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier that is currently being constructed by China’s Zhejiang Xinle Shipbuilding in Ningbo.The vessel will be completed by Zhejiang Xinle Shipbuilding under supervision of Anthony Veder and is expected to be ready for worldwide trading in the summer of 2019, said a press release from the operator of gas tankers in all the segments of gas shipping, from LPG shipping to LNG shipping and from CO2 shipping to ethylene shipping.After delivery it will be renamed with a Coral name.
First U.S. LNG Cargo Since Trade Tariffs Arrives in China
A liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the United States has arrived in China, the first such cargo since Beijing imposed a tariff on U.S. imports, shipping data from Refinitiv Eikon showed on Monday.The cargo was shipped on the tanker Ribera Duero Knutsen from the Sabine Pass terminal operated by Cheniere Energy .It arrived at the Zhejiang Ningbo LNG terminal in China on Nov. 11, the data showed.This is the first U.S. LNG cargo to be shipped to China since Sept. 10, according to the data. Saudi Aramco to Invest in China
Saudi Aramco recently signed an MoU with Chinese Zhejiang provincial government during the 2nd International Petroleum and Natural Gas Enterprises Conference (IPEC), to acquire a share of Zhejiang Petrochemical’s new refinery project.Abdulaziz Al Judaimi, Sr. VP Downstream, said: "We are exploring opportunities for new refining and petrochemicals facilities, making further investments in China. China to Slash Ship Emissions in Ports Earlier than Expected
Major ports around the Yangtze River Delta will impose tighter rules on emissions from vessels in and around the ports starting on Oct. 1, a newspaper run by China's Ministry of Transport said in a report.The ports affected are Shanghai, the world's biggest container port, as well as ports in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Largest Oil Shipment Sent from Vancouver to China Since 2015

LNG Imports Climb at CNOOC's Zhejiang Terminal

Sea Ice Could Disrupt Shipping in Northern China
A unit of China's State Oceanic Administration (SOA) on Friday issued a blue alert for sea ice in a key port area in the north of the country, potentially disrupting commodities shipments, as temperatures in the region plummet. Sea ice in the Liaodong Bay, the northern arm of China's Bohai Sea, now extends 67 nautical miles (124 km) from the shoreline, the North China Sea Marine Forecasting Center said in an 0700 GMT alert. Ice also extends 18 nautical miles out in the northern part of the Yellow Sea, the Center said.
Tanker Continues to Burn in East China Sea
Strong winds, high waves and toxic gases are hindering dozens of rescue boats struggling to locate missing sailors from a stricken oil tanker in the East China Sea and to extinguish a fire that has burned for the past three days on the ship. China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Becomes World's Top Port
China's super-large port Ningbo-Zhoushan, the busiest port in China, saw an annual cargo throughput of 1 billion tonnes, becoming the first one globally to reach this volume, according to data provided by the port. The port in East China's Zhejiang province deepened cooperation with major shipping companies and harbors along the Belt and Road, adding five sea routes to raise its total to 86. It also signed cooperation agreements with 20 other ports, Xinhua reported Mao Jianhong, chairman of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group as saying.

Optimarin Demonstrates Total System Reliability
Environmentally friendly and compliant BWT technology company Optimarin gave a demonstration of its long-term system reliability onboard Neptune Subsea’s IMR vessel Larissa in the same week that a report from ABS revealed problems with almost half of installed ballast water treatment (BWT) systems. Optimarin has installed more than 300 of its systems worldwide, with over 500 units ordered. The 334 m3 capacity system onboard the SX130 Ulstein design Larissa was one of the first, installed during its construction by Zhejiang Shipbuilding in 2010.
CEFC Bags Bunker Licence for Zhoushan Free Trade Zone, China
CEFC China Energy was awarded a licence by Zhoushan Free Trade Zone for supply marine bunker fuel off the east coast of China to vessels on international voyages, reports Reuters. The report quoted two CEFC officials saying that the license is to supply bunker fuel from bonded storage to vessels that call at the Zhoushan area. The Zhoushan Free Trade Zone is in the coastal province of Zhejiang and is a new free trade zone the Chinese government approved earlier this year to boost commodities trade.
Spliethoff Orders Six Vessels from China
Amsterdam-based shipping company Spliethoff has placed an order for six multipurpose vessels at the Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., shipyard in China. The 165-meter-long, approximately 18,000 dwt vessels of this new R-Class are designed in accordance with the Polar Code for trade in remote areas such as the Arctic. With a hold length of over 100 meters and heavy lift cranes which are combinable, the vessels are engineered for operations within the specialized breakbulk market with heavy and outsized cargoes.

Chinese Maritime Court has sold five vessels of bankrupt Wenzhou Shipping, subsidiary of Zhejiang Shipping Group, through online auctions on Taobao.com for a a total price of $22.81m. The auctioned ships include 2011-built 57,000-dwt supramax bulker Zhe Hai 167, 2009-built 33,400-dwt handysize bulker Zhe Hai 162, 2009-built 23,500-dwt handysize bulker Zhe Hai 156 , a tugboat and an oil barge. Singapore-based company Varada One's vessel was auctioned off on online shopping platform Taobao for $11.7, Xinhua news agency reported. The VLCC Varada Blessing is 1993-built, 300,000 dwt tanker.

New Course for Energy-Efficient Ship Operation
Maritime educators in China are the first to undergo a newly developed course designed to assist maritime training institutes to introduce the topic of energy-efficient ship operation into their teaching curriculums. More than 30 participants from maritime universities, shipping colleges and institutes from across China are attending the workshop, taking place in Hangzhou (8-9 December). The course, developed under International Maritime Organization (IMO) 's GloMEEP project, will help maritime training institutes to deliver IMO’s Model Course 4.05 to seafarers.
