Rolls-Royce Secures another Trawler Contract

Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven has been awarded a contract to build a fishing vessel to be designed and equipped by Rolls-Royce. The stern trawler has been ordered by French fishing company Compagnie Des Peches Saint-Malo S.A. & SAS Comptoir Des Peches D’Europe Du Nord – Euronor.

 

The vessel owner has decided on the Rolls-Royce NVC 374 WP design, which features an onboard factory for the production of fish filets, and has a storage capacity of 1,400 cubic meters. There’s also a 550 cubic meter fishmeal storage hold.

 

Jan Emblemsvåg, Rolls-Royce, Senior Vice President Ship Design & Systems, said, “This is our fifth fishing industry related contract this year, of which four are to be built by Kleven.”

 

The ICE 1A classed vessel will be 80 meters long, and equipped with a range of Rolls-Royce equipment, including main engine, auxiliary engines, thruster, automation, hydraulic winches and the Wave Piercing design. According to Rolls-Royce, operational efficiency, low emissions, crew comfort, safety and excellent seakeeping capabilities have been the main considerations in the development of the ship design and equipment package.

 

The vessel is scheduled to be delivered from the yard in September 2017.
