Kongsberg Wins LNG, Battery Propulsion Contract

Kongsberg Maritime will supply a Power & Propulsion System for a new LNG powered multi-purpose cargo vessel of design MM85CC LNG by Multi Maritime.The clean and efficient Kongsberg Maritime propulsion system features a Bergen B36:45L6PG gas engine and LNG control and safety system, a Promas controllable pitch propeller and rudder system, together with a battery pack to enable periods of emission free operation in ports and environmentally sensitive areas.The 3,500dwt vessel is currently under construction at Tersan Shipyard, Turkey, for Norwegian ship owner Egil Ulvan Rederi AS.

W&D to Build Two ASD Tugs for Moran Towing

Washburn & Doughty, of East Boothbay, Maine, has announced the execution of a new vessel construction contract with Moran Towing Corporation, of New Canaan, Connecticut, to build two 86’ x 36’ ASD-Type Ship Assist and Escort Z-Drive Tugs, with options to build up to ten vessels.In addition to the two firm tugs, which will be delivered in 2020, the contract provides Moran with four, two-tug options keyed to production milestones of the tugs then under construction.W&D’s team of in-house naval architects and designers will complete the production designs for the new 86’ tugs based on the contract plans and regulatory package prepared by Jensen Maritime Consultants, Inc.

Jiangsu Wuxi Shipyard delivered the ship-assist tug Lima, a Robert Allan Ltd. RAmparts 2400-W design to TRAMARSA in Peru recently. In mid October 2018, ICDAS Turkey completed construction of its second Z-Tech 6500 tug, the KARA YUSUF-2, which will operate in Çanakkale Turkey. Schoellhorn-Albrecht Deck Machinery for Ice Breaking Tug

Schoellhorn-Albrecht recently completed a contract to design and manufacture a Vertical Anchor Windlass and Thru Deck Capstan for St. Lawrence Seaways newest Ice Breaking Tug.The windlass was designed to ABS standards for a minimum design temperature of -25F°. Testing and certification was witnessed by ABS in our St. Louis facility. The Thru-Deck Capstan features a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) control package, a right angle drive gearbox, 20 HP marine duty motor and 18” diameter barrel.

Jensen Maritime Provides Design for Shaver's New Tugboat

Jensen Maritime, Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering company, has provided the detailed design for Shaver Transportation Company’s new, Z-drive tug – Samantha S. The multi-purpose tug was built at Diversified Marine Inc., in Portland, Ore., and is operating along the West Coast. The tug is ABS-classed and carries a FFV1 firefighting notation.The 112-foot by 44-foot tug has a 22-foot draft, was built for escort, ocean towing and ship assist, and has firefighting capabilities if needed. The tug features a raised pilot house and a squared forward end.

MacGregor Deck Machinery Selected for Heavy-Duty Naval Operations

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been selected to supply deck machinery equipment for a US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) T-ATSX-class vessel under construction at Gulf Island Shipyards, in Houma, Louisiana, US. Florida-based Cheoy Lee Shipyards have delivered two more Z-Tech tugs, PSA Polaris and PSA Capella, to PSA Marine, Singapore. This time was the Z-Tech 5000 version with newly re-styled deckhouse and wheelhouse in addition to its already unique appearance. $12.5m Awarded for Drydock Repairs in Hawaii

GSI Pacific Inc.,* Honolulu, Hawaii, is awarded $12,481,550 for a firm-fixed-price task order (N6247818F4183) under a previously awarded multiple award construction contract (N62478-16-D-4015) to overhaul a dry dock caisson and provide dock repairs at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
