Shipbuilding Cooperation Between China and Japan

Cooperation between China and Japan on shipbuilding technology opens a new chapter; SINOPACIFIC Shipbuilding Group has joined hands with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to start the optimization of the CROWN MHI 82 bulk carrier design.

 

On March 12, SINOPACIFIC Shipbuilding Group Chairman and CEO Mr. Simon Liang and Mr. Hisashi Hara, Representative Director（Member of The Board）, Executive Vice President and Head of Shipbuilding & Ocean Development from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) signed a joint development agreement on the planned design optimization of the CROWN MHI 82 in Tokyo, Japan. This is a new attempt of technical cooperation between Chinese and Japanese shipbuilding enterprises. In accordance with the agreement, both sides will jointly own the intellectual property of the CROWN MHI 82’s concept design as well as detailed design.

 

SINOPACIFIC is committed to creating world leading products, and has a very strong forward-looking approach to market and product planning. The CROWN 58, the first type of bulk carrier with independent intellectual property rights has accomplished 71 sales to date. Towards the end of February, the first CROWN 63 bulk carrier was successfully delivered to its owner. It also obtained the first global EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) certificate issued by the BV. As a new generation, more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly ship, the CROWN 63 is well known for its outstanding carrying efficiency, environmental performance, ease of operation & maintenance and vibration, all of which were derived through over 3 years of design and development.

 

It is reported that the tank test of CROWN MHI 82 will be conducted in Nagasaki Research & Development Center of MHI. It's also Japanese first ever opening up towards and cooperation with a Chinese shipbuilding company in technology resources. The whole joint design project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2012.
