Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders

Another relatively quiet week with no reports of new shipbuilding orders in either the dry bulk and tankship markets, remarks Clarkson Hellas in its latest S&P Weekly Bulletiln.

Gas carriers
Odfjell Gas Carriers declared their options for four 22,000 CBM LPG/Ethylene Carriers at Sinopacific Offshore for deliveries in 2016 and 2017. Clarkson Hellas explain that these are the options from four 17,000 CBM LPG/Ethylene Carriers which were contracted last year for deliveries throughout 2015 and 2016.

Container ships
Clients of Schulte Group are understood to have increased their series of 2,350 TEU Containers at Zhejiang Yangfan to sixteen vessels by declaring four options. Delivery of the optional vessels is planned within 2016.

Although the contracts were signed last week, it has come to light this week, say Clarkson Hellas, that Nordic Hamburg Shipping have ordered two firm plus two option 1,400 TEU Containers at Yangzhou Gouyu shipyard in China. The vessels including the options are due for delivery in 2016 and will be equipped with dual fuel LNG propulsion systems.

Additionally, Hyundai Heavy Industries have received an order for firm four 7,400 CEU PCTCs from its compatriot shipping company Hyundai Glovis. These vessels will be delivered from Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Ulsan yard during 2015 and 2016.

Cruise ship
Royal Caribbean have announced an option declared for a single 225,282 GT Cruise Ship at STX France, due to deliver in July 2018. This will be the second vessel in the series.

Icebreakers
Clarkson Hellas understand that Atomflot FSUE, the shipping arm of ROSATOM, have contracted two 30,000 GT Icebreakers with Baltic Shipyard in Russia. These are the 2nd and 3rd vessels in the series and are planned to be delivered in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

RoRo ferry
LaNaval Shipyard in Spain have received an order for one 15,000 GT Passenger / Car Ferry from Dutch owner Royal N.V. Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming (TESO). The ferry will be named ‘Texelstroom’ and will be able to transport up to 1,750 persons and 350 vehicles and will be delivered in 2016 from Sestao.
