BV Opens doors to Their Testing Labs in Germany
Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (CPS) have successfully opened the doors to their testing laboratories in Hamburg and Schwerin on the 9th and 10th July. The event, which was themed around new chemical requirements for consumer products, attracted over 100 clients coming not only from Germany, but also from France, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Austria and the United Kingdom.
The event was the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Schwerin laboratory, one of the most modern laboratories within the Bureau Veritas network. At this location, around 150 employees are specialised in chemical testing of virtually all types of consumer products. Many testing methods that have been developed in Schwerin are now used globally, and several have been defined as national and international standards.
Attendees had the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art premises, meet Bureau Veritas CPS technical experts and listen to a series of seminars on current topics such as the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) initiative or the latest developments in food contact and cosmetics regulations.
Xavier Dennery, Senior Vice President EMEA at Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services comments: “Chemical requirements for consumer products are becoming increasingly complex; many of them are driven by the European Union who is keen to protect consumers from harmful substances. Our European team of experts is indeed very well placed to support our clients find cost-effective and innovative ways of dealing with this regulatory challenge, having helped many major brands and retailers of textiles, toys, hardlines and cosmetics develop and implement their restricted substances policies over the past 20 years.”
Xavier Dennery adds: “The open days were the occasion to demonstrate the extent of the analytical technical expertise we can offer in Europe. It was also the opportunity to exchange with our clients on our common challenges so we can ensure that our services always match their needs and expectations. We are very pleased with the feedback we have received so far and I think we gave our clients food for thought on how they can enhance their own chemical compliance strategy with the help of analytical laboratories such as Bureau Veritas CPS.”
The Hamburg laboratory also had something to celebrate with the recent opening of its new centre of competence for hardlines. Visitors saw the premises which offer a wide range of testing including food contact, Fitness For Use (FFU), REACH and Rohs to only name a few.
