Fincantieri Hits Double Milestone for Virgin Voyages
Italian shipbuilding group Fincanieri said it has delivered the new cruise ship, Valiant Lady, and launched another, Resilient Lady, for operator Virgin Voyages at its Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa.The newbuilds are the second and third of four ships which Virgin Voyages, part of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, ordered from Fincantieri.Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady, as well as sister ship Scarlet Lady delivered last year, weigh about 110,000 gross tons, are 278 meters long and 38 wide.

De Nora announced it has completed its acquisition of Calgon Carbon Corporation's UV Technologies Division (CCUV), including the products, brands and assets of UV ballast water management systems (BWMS) manufacturer Hyde Marine as well as municipal and industrial water treatment brands RAYOX, SENTINEL and C3 SERIES UV.The acquisition – first announced last month – creates one of the world's largest ballast water management system (BWMS) manufacturers.

Seattle-headquartered Saltchuk Holdings informed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it has proposed to buy the Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) shares it doesn't already own for $3 each, lifting shares of the Tampa, Fla.-based marine transportation company on Friday.As of June 29, Saltchuk beneficially owned 15.2 million (17.5%) of OSG's outstanding shares, Saltchuk said in the SEC filing.
