Damen Shipyard Milestone with ASD Tug 3212
Damen Shipyards have delivered the ASD tugs ‘Karloo’ and ‘Kalarka’ to Half Tide Marine Pty Ltd of Australia. The tugs were built to the highly successful ASD Tug 3111 design, which in common with most Damen vessels, has been the subject of constant research and improvement. Including ‘Karloo’ and ‘Kalarka’, Damen has delivered twenty tugs built to that design, which will now be replaced by the new ASD Tug 3212.

MAN Diesel to Supply Korean Navy
MAN Diesel & Turbo signed a contract on April 7, 2011 with STX, the South Korean engine manufacturer, for the construction of 4 × 12V28/33D STC diesel engines. The four-stroke units are bound for a Republic of Korea Navy vessel currently under construction in Korea at Hanjin Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. Under the project name LST-II, Hanjin is constructing the landing ship tank (LST) vessel, which has an approximate length of 127 m.

Swedish commuter ferry operator Stirsöbolage has become the first Scandinavian company to benefit from the new Zodiac MES ESS automatic escape slide. This follows the installation of three 3.4 meter slides aboard the Älvsnabben 4 during a routine refit at the Swede Ship yard in Gőteborg. The Zodiac slides and accompanying reversible 100 person life rafts were designed to be launched from the boat’s bridge at the touch of a button, without any crew input.
