Britoil Enters the PSV Market with Ulstein Designs
Shipowner Britoil Offshore Services Pte Ltd. has entered into a contract of design and equipment packages for two platform supply vessels of the new PX121 design from Ulstein. The vessels will be constructed at Britoil’s own yard, P.T. Britoil Offshore Indonesia, on the island Batam. The X-BOW vessels will mark Britoil’s entry into the PSV market. Singapore based Britoil has a fleet of 40 vessels, mainly anchor handling tugs and barges.

Proserv, a global provider of production technology services, has secured a £1.2million contract to supply topside control equipment at a major southern North Sea development. The company was awarded the deal on the Cygnus field by operator GDF SUEZ through its design contractor AMEC. As part of the agreement Proserv will supply the design, engineering and build of wellhead control panels and accompanying topside umbilical termination units for the Alpha and Bravo platforms.

DMAIB Publishes 'Maersk Champion' Fire Report
The Danish Maritime Accident Investigation Board (DMAIB) reports on the fire that occured on board in early 2012. On 9 January 2012, a fire broke out in the ship’s hospital of the AHTS vessel Maersk Champion that was engaged in tanker lifting/heading control off the Brazilian coast. The cause of the fire was self ignition by a chemical reaction between chlorine-containing granules and other chemical substances in a plastic box with medicine and chemical residues located in the ship's hospital.
