Dive boats Get Ultrajet Propulsion
Two new 120 foot Buddy Dive Boats are fitted with Ultrajet Waterjet Propulsion systems. M.Y. Wolf Buddy and M.Y. Darwin Buddy, the newest and most spacious ‘live aboard’ dive-yachts in the archipelago of Galapagos, have been fitted with hp Caterpillar C-18 diesel engines rated at 1800 rpm coupled to twin UltraJet 575 waterjets. The vessels were custom designed by Buddy Dive and Varadero Maridueña in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

ClassNK Breaks Records for Class Entries
ClassNK Register Closing in on the 200 Million Gross Ton Mark. ClassNK has announced its final register statistics for 2011, revealing that almost 23 million gross tons were added to the class society’s register this past year. The announcement came following a meeting of the Society’s Classification Committee, which confirmed that 781 vessels totaling 22,666,948 gross tons were added to the ClassNK Register during 2011.

EMSA Vessel to Assists with Bunker Oil Removal
The EMSA-contracted Stand by Oil Spill Response Vessel Salina Bay arrived this weekend on site of the Costa Concordia to assist SMIT Salvage, who is in charge of the bunker removal and pollution response operations. Preparations are on-going for the removal of the bunker oil from the grounded cruise ship Costa Concordia. The Salina Bay will be -as a precautionary measure- on stand-by during this operation over the next weeks.
Swedish Navy Receives AUV's
During November and December 2011 the Swedish Navy received the last two of four state of-the-art AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) from the Danish company EIVA a/s. The AUVs are equipped with advanced sensors in the form of sonars and underwater cameras and they are designed to operate autonomously underwater following a mission route planned ahead. There is a multitude of purposes for which the AUVs can be used.
