ME-GI Diesel Marine Engine Burns Natural Gas
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in cooperation with Mitsui OSK Lines recently carried out a full-scale demonstrational running of electronically controlled slow-speed diesel engine for marine use burning natural gas, which is the first of its kind in Japan and is called ME-GI, and has confirmed that the engine has the same reliability with the oil fired diesel engines used for almost all ocean going merchant ships in the world.

IHC Merwede Sells First IHC Beaver 65 DDSP
Following the launch of the IHC Beaver 65 DDSP in February, the first vessel has been sold to Advanced Construction Company, a member of the Al Geithy Group, based in Saudi Arabia. Testing was successful completed at IHC Merwede’s shipyard in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands, in early March and delivery to Jeddah will be organized in the second quarter of this year. After delivery the dredger will begin work in the Red Sea.

Offshore wind consortium, Forewind’s second and final stage of consultation for its first offshore wind energy development, Dogger Bank Creyke Beck begins Friday, April 19. The consultation, which starts with the publication of documents, plans and maps about the proposed development, will run until Tuesday, June 11 and will include a series of public events to be held in venues along the proposed cable route, from the coastal village of Ulrome to Cottingham, in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Vroon Offshore Win Long-term BP ERRV Contract
Vroon Offshore Services contracted by BP for emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV) services on the UK continental shelf. Netherlands' Vroon say that these services will be undertaken by A- and B-Class field-support vessels and a platform-supply vessel. In due course one of the field-support vessels will be replaced by a newbuilding vessel currently under construction for Vroon in China (see artist’s impression).

Seadrill contracts with LLOG Bluewater Holdings, LLC, for employment of the new-build drill-ship, 'West Neptune', offshore Gulf of Mexico. The contract duration is a minimum of three years plus an option for a one-year extension at mutually agreed rates.
