USS Bataan Rescues 282 in Mediterranean Sea
USS Bataan and USS Elrod (FFG 55) saved the passengers from their sinking small vessel. USS Bataan provided food, water, medical attention and temporary shelter before tranferring 277 to the Armed Forces of Malta patrol craft P61, and the remainder to hospital in Malta. Elrod and Bataan received a report from an Italian military marine patrol aircraft that sighted six small vessels, one of which was sinking, at approximately 3 p.m., June 6, 2014.

Construction Of Jan de Nul Multi-Purpose Vessel Starts
Uljanik Brodogradiliste in Pula, Croatia, started the construction of the Multi-Purpose Vessel JDN8628 for Jan de Nul . This versatile vessel can be equipped with two cable turntables with a total capacity of 10,000 tonnes. For Subsea Rock Installation the vessel can carry up to 10,000 tonnes of rock. The rock is unloaded by two excavators and discharged through a fall pipe with ROV down to waterdepths of about 400 m.
Bulgaria Awaits EU Nod To Resume South Stream Work
Bulgaria will not resume work on the Russian-led South Stream gas pipeline project until it receives the all clear from the European Commission, Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski said on Sunday. In a move that could inflame tensions between Russia and the European Union, the 28-nation bloc's executive arm last week asked the Balkan country to suspend work on Gazprom's South Stream project pending a decision on whether it complies with EU law.
Oil Tanker Missing Off Ghana Coast Amid Report Of Piracy
A Liberia-flagged oil tanker has gone missing off the coast of Ghana and a senior port official told Reuters on Saturday the captain sent a distress call to say the vessel was attacked by pirates. The Liberia-flagged MT Fair Artemis last made contact with its manager, Fairdeal Group S.A., at 6 p.m. (1800 GMT) on Wednesday when it was operating off the coast of Ghana, the company said. The ship failed to make contact the next day.

New Moselle Service To Rotterdam Started
The Bonn port business and freight forwarder Am Zehnhoff-Söns and the French port authority for the Moselle ports have started a direct service to the port of Rotterdam, via the joint venture MMS Multi Modal Shuttle. For the time being shipping line HTAG’s vessels operate a twice-weekly service in either direction. The hub is the port of Bonn on the Rhine. Trial sailings have been under way since April.
