Solo Kayaker Rescued East of Coffs Harbor
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has coordinated the search and rescue of a solo kayaker off northern New South Wales. AMSA Search and Rescue officers were contacted by the International Emergency Response Centre in the United States about 10.30am (AEDT) on Monday when the kayaker activated the SOS function on a two-way satellite communication system. He had advised his partner he was not in distress but was experiencing steering problems.
ARENA Funding Produces Record Solar Efficiency
ARENA today congratulated researchers at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for being the first in the world to convert more than 40% of the sunlight hitting a solar system into electricity. The record efficiency was first achieved in outdoor tests in Sydney, before being independently confirmed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) at their outdoor test facility in the United States.
Arctic Pipeline being Built from Messoyakhinskoe
Messoyakhneftegaz has began building a pressurized pipeline from the Messoyakhinskoe group of deposits, located to the north of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, to the main Arctic Circle-Purpe pipeline system. The oil pipeline with a maximum capacity of 7 million tonnes a year will be laid on both sides at the same time, and its length is 96.5 km. Oil transportation is scheduled to begin at the end of 2016 after the launch of the East Messoyakhinskoe oil fields into operation.
New Prospects Identified Offshore Ireland
Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc updates shareholders with respect to its FEL 2/13 and FEL 3/13 licenses in the South Porcupine Basin, offshore Ireland. Europa has now received a new prospect inventory from the operator of the licenses, Kosmos Energy Ltd. The inventory is based on state of the art 3D seismic acquired in 2013 and includes the identification of a number of new, large prospects and leads on both licenses.
