BHC Fast Ferry Returns After Engine Refit
Boston Harbor Cruises’ (BHC) Provincetown fast ferry, Salacia, has returned to service following an almost $3 million engine refit which saw the vessel in dry dock from January through May 2015. BHC commissioned the installation of four MTU 12V4000M64 engines from Stewart & Stevenson Power Products, LLC. The engines were manufactured by Rolls Royce Power Systems subsidiary MTU, and assembled in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
AVEVA Expands Services for Owner Operators

NOAA Deploys Survey Ships for Arctic Charting Projects
NOAA announced the official launch of its 2015 Arctic hydrographic survey season took place this morning, in Kodiak, Alaska, in a World Ocean Day ceremony which showcased the deployment of the NOAA ships Rainier and Fairweather. “Most Arctic waters that are charted were surveyed with obsolete technology, with some of the information dating back to Captain Cook's voyages, long before the region was part of the United States,” said NOAA deputy under secretary for operations Vice Admiral Michael S.

A crewmember aboard containership Horizon Tacoma was medevaced by a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) aircrew near Port Townsend, Wash., Saturday. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Port Angeles hoisted the man and transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the 700-foot ship’s master contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, in Seattle, requesting assistance for a 72-year-old crewmember reportedly suffering chest pain. Synapsis INS for New Car Carriers
The German navigation system integrator Raytheon Anschütz has won a contract to supply the latest generation of IMO-certified Integrated Navigation Systems (INS) to three car carriers built by the Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik Brodogradiliste. The Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) will be owned by Cayman Island based Auto Marine Transport Inc. and are scheduled for entering service from end of 2016. The new PCTCs will operate under a long-term charter of Siem Car Carriers AS.

Hawaii Conducts Port Disaster Exercise
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and partner agencies participated in the Alternate Port Concept Full Scale Exercise at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Friday. The purpose of the exercise was to prepare the State, Navy, Coast Guard and industry response partners for their roles during a major catastrophic event that closes the Port of Honolulu and requires the activation of the Alternate Port in Pearl Harbor.
