Two Incat Crowther Catamaran Ferries for Auckland
Incat Crowther reports that construction has commenced at Q-West in Wanganui, New Zealand, on a pair of additional 34m catamaran passenger ferries for Fullers Group Ltd. The new boats will be sister ships to Te Kotuku which was also built at Q-West and delivered in 2014. The vessels will carry 401 passengers and include the addition of a sun deck. The main deck features seats for 174, a large café, luggage racks and wide access doors.

Teekay Building Six LNG Vessels
Teekay Corporation's Gas team celebrated the keel laying ceremony of six LNG newbuildings at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea. Five of these carriers are 173,400 cubic meter MEGI (M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection) engine LNG newbuildings are under time-charter contracts with Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell). The remaining carrier, H2461, is committed to the Bahrain project.
74th Consecutive Dividend from NAT
The Board of Nordic American Tankers Limited (NAT) has declared a cash dividend of $0.43 per share to shareholders of record January 27, 2016. The dividend is expected to be paid on or about February 10, 2016. The first dividend was paid in the autumn of 1997 and dividend payments have been made for 74 consecutive quarters. The dividend for 2015 as a whole came to $1.59 per share. At yesterday's close, the stock price was $13.32.

Maersk Line Tops World Shipping in 2016
Maersk Line, a unit of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, has retained its position as the world’s largest container shipping line, according to Alphaliner. It is still the world’s largest ocean carrier by capacity but its closest rivals, Mediterranean Shipping Co. and CMA CGM, posted higher fleet growth rates during 2015. It is safe from its closest rivals with a fleet growth of 4.1 percent in 2015, data from Alphaliner shows.
Singapore's Sops to Ailing Shipping
The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singaporehas announced an additional 10 per cent concession on port dues for container vessels calling in Singapore, with port stays of up to five days, to help the shipping industry tide over the current economic downturn. MPA said that the additional concession will be in place for one year, and will be granted on top of existing port dues concessions such as the Green Port Programme incentives and the 20 per cent concession first introduced in 1996.
Singapore: New Bunker Sales Record, Container Throughput Falls
Singapore’s maritime industry had a mixed performance in 2015. While the Republic remained the world’s top bunkering port, with the volume of bunkers sold last year increasing by 6.5 per cent, container and cargo throughput contracted by 8.7 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively.
