Kalmar Bags Gulftainer Order
Kalmar signed an agreement with Gulftainer Lebanon SAL to supply six Kalmar T2 terminal tractors and one Kalmar DCF80-45E7 empty container handler. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2016 third quarter order intake and the first delivery will take place in October 2016. The rest of the order will be delivered during the first quarter of 2017. Established in 1976, Gulftainer is a privately owned, independent port management and third-party logistics company based in the United Arab Emirates.
Singapore Strengthens Maritime Ties with Norway
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), represented by Chief Executive, Andrew Tan, signed a Joint Statement with the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries on October 10 during the State Visit by President Tony Tan Keng Yam to Norway. Norway’s signatory was State Secretary Dilek Ayhan. The signing was witnessed by President Tony Tan and His Majesty King, Harald V of Norway.
Finnish Shipyard wins Ship Deal from Royal Caribbean
Miami-based cruise line operator Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Meyer Turku shipyard signed a memorandum of agreement for two next generation cruise ship orders to be delivered in 2022 and 2024. The around 200,000 gross ton large cruise ships under the project name “Icon” will mark the beginning of a new generation of LNG powered cruise ships with a number of innovations such as an application of fuel cells for power generation.
Togo Ratifies High Seas Intervention Treaty
Togo has become the 89th State to ratify International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties of 1969. The Convention affirms the right of a coastal State to take necessary measures on the high seas to prevent, mitigate or eliminate danger to its coastline or related interests from pollution by oil following a maritime casualty.
Globus Maritime Mulls 1-for-4 Reverse Stock Split
Globus Maritime Limited, a dry bulk shipping company, announced that its Board of Directors has determined to effect a 1-for-4 reverse stock split of the Company's common shares. MacGregor in JV with China State Shipbuilding
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, and China State Shipbuilding Corporation's (CSSC) Nanjing Luzhou Machine Co Ltd (LMC) signed a joint venture contract to form CSSC Luzhou MacGregor Machine Co Ltd. Subject to all relevant authority approvals, expected within this year, LMC will own 51 percent and MacGregor 49 percent of the new joint venture company. As a first step, the joint venture will cover the transfer of Hatlapa marine air compressor technology over a two-year period.
Matrix PDM Signs Licensing Deal with GTT
GTT's Houston-based US subsidiary, GTT North America (GTT NA), has signed a license agreement with the American engineering company Matrix PDM Engineering. The agreement was signed at the Matrix Service Company headquarters in Tulsa, OK, in the presence of John Hewitt – Matrix Service Company CEO, Joe Montalbano – Matrix Service Company COO and Matrix PDM Engineering President; and Aziz Bamik – General Manager, GTT NA.
Swissco Unable to Make Coupon Payment
Singapore-listed offshore firm Swissco Holdings could not pay out a $2.85 million coupon due next Friday and had no plans for its next course of action, says a report in Straits Times. Bond holders who had each sunk about $250,000 into the notes two years ago were told that Swissco faced a US$147.5 million (S$202.7 million) bank debt maturing from now until 2020. Gibdock Performs Quick Freight Ferry Repair
Gibdock has redelivered the Seatruck Ferries container/ro-ro vessel Clipper Point on-time, after a fast turnaround 11-day renewal project for the Clipper Group-owned operator. The ship has subsequently been introduced to Seatrucks’ Irish Sea operations. Returning Gibdock customer Seatruck scheduled the 5,193dwt Clipper Point to arrive in the yard on September 18. World’s Largest LNG Bunker Supply Vessel Chartered
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier Bomin Linde LNG said it has secured a capacity of 7,500 m3 LNG bunker supply vessel, the largest of its kind to date, via a time-charter contract signed with ship owner Bernhard Schulte on September 30, 2016.
