Four Killed in Explosion at South Korean STX Shipyard
Four workers were killed Sunday in an explosion at an oil tanker being built in a South Korean shipyard, Reuters reported quoting authorities. Fire officials said the workers were painting the interior of the tanker at an STX Offshore & Shipbuilding plant in the southeastern city of Changwon and died almost instantly. The workers in their 30s to 50s were painting inside a 12-meter-deep oil tank at the time of the accident. The fire agency recovered the bodies of the three victims.
Nakilat, Shell Completes First Phase of LNG Carrier Management Transition
Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL) a wholly owned subsidiary of Nakilat and Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (Shell), have completed the first phase of what will be the world’s largest management transition of LNG carriers. Hafnia Says Product Tanker Market Weakened
The overall product tanker market weakened further during the second quarter of 2017, reflecting the ongoing imbalance between supply and demand of tonnage, said Denmark based Hafnia Tankers. High inventories and reduced trading activity did not support any additional increase of freight rates, however we did see the start of reduced oil inventories by the end of Q2, which in combination with a reduced orderbook, as well as growing oil consumption, are needed for an improved market.
