Dechaineux Dives into Tri-lateral Submarine Exercise
Australian Navy submarine HMAS Dechaineux, has recently joined four Japanese submarines and United States Navy Los Angeles class attack submarine USS Key West in a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force trilateral exercise in waters south of Japan. The Submarine Competition (known as SUBCOMP) aims to further the anti-submarine warfare integration of the three navies, stressing each crew’s responses and tactics. The top performer is recognised with the Japanese Battle Efficiency Award.
DP World to Expand in African Market
DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem has met with Senegalese President Macky Sall as part of a tour of West and North Africa to confirm development of infrastructure projects in the country. The discussions, attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Dionne and senior government officials, confirmed the plan for Port Du Futur with construction to start before the end of 2018 together with agreement on land allocation for the associated freezone.
120 Volunteers Collect Marine Trash on Kayaks
120 volunteers turned up for the Clean-Up on Kayak activity organised by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) at Sembawang PA Water Venture this morning. Held in conjunction with International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICC Day), 100 volunteers were on kayaks to collect marine debris in Singapore waters while 20 remained on land to sort and record the marine litter for data analysis. DEME Names Second LNG-fueled Dredger
The trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Scheldt River was officially named at the DEME head office in Zwijndrecht, Belgium. The dredger was named by Veerle Hegge, the wife of Bart De Wever, Mayor of Antwerp. The 8,400 m³ Scheldt River is the second dredger in the DEME fleet equipped with dual fuel engines. The highly innovative vessel can operate in LNG mode, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, almost eliminating sulphur, NOx and particle emissions.
DP World to Develop Logistics Plan for Mali
DP World Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, met with the President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, last week to discuss a trade and logistics master plan to unlock the resource rich country’s economic potential. The plan includes a transportation and logistics strategy with electronic customs processes, replicating DP World’s successful model with Dubai Trade at its flagship Jebel Ali Port and Freezone in Dubai.
