France Will Make Fresh Proposals on STX Shipyards to Italy
France will make new proposals to Italy with the hope of resolving their differences over the sale and joint control of STX shipyards before a Franco-Italian summit in September, Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Monday. Paris angered Rome last month after it ordered a "temporary" nationalisation of STX, cancelling a deal in which Italy's state-owned Fincantieri and another Italian investor had agreed to buy a 54.6 percent stake.
13% of Manned Platforms Evacuated in GoM
Offshore oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico have evacuated personnel from 98 production platforms, 13.3 percent of the region’s 737 manned platforms during Tropical Storm Harvey, according to this morning’s data submitted to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). BSEE said personnel have been evacuated from five of 10 non-dynamically positioned (DP) rigs currently operating in the Gulf. None of the Gulf’s 21 DP rigs have moved off location.

Faster Propeller Repairs in the Middle East
Aiming to provide faster repair service in the Middle East to ship operators whose vessels have sustained propeller damage, Stone Marine Shipcare has signed a Service Agency Agreement with Dubai Drydock World which sees one of the companies’ mobile workshops permanently based there. The workshop will be used, not just at Drydock Worlds’ own facilities, but can be quickly transported to other Middle Eastern shipyards, wherever a ship is in need of repair or maintenance to its propeller.

Lawson holds a B.S. in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from Webb Institute, where he served as Class President and Honor Council Chairman, and participated on the Education Committee, sailing team, jazz band and choir during his time at Webb. Port of Corpus Starts Recovery after Hurricane Harvey
The Port of Corpus Christi has begun its recovery efforts after initial assessments show light to moderate damage and debris from the impact of Harvey, which hit the major port as a Category 4 hurricane, the port director said on Sunday. "We are completing our initial assessments and are working with the Army Corps of Engineers to start a channel survey as early as tomorrow and expect a successful recovery effort," said John LaRue, the port's executive director.
Nexans’ New Cable-Layer under Construction
Nexans said construction has started on its new cable-laying vessel for submarine HV cable systems installation.
