Revolutionary Wärtsilä Slow-speed Engine: First Installation Order
Wärtsilä's new 2-stroke, low pressure, dual-fuel engine has been selected by Terntank Rederi A/S, the Denmark based tanker operator, to power two new environmentally advanced, 15,000 DWT tankers. These will be the first installations of this engine. The new Wärtsilä technology was recently introduced at a customer event held at the company's Trieste, Italy facilities, and the first engine utilising this technology is the Wärtsilä RT-flex50DF.

Diana Shipping Inc. has time- chartered out the 75,336 dwt MV Triton to Bunge S.A., Geneva, at a gross charter rate of US$11,000 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of up to minimum September 1, 2014 to maximum October 31, 2014. The charter is expected to commence on December 8, 2013. The owners add that this employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$2.86 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the charter.

Stevens Towing of Charleston, South Carolina has sold their U.S flag, twin screw tug âIsland Foxâ (ex Pt. Brower, Arctic Knight, Arctic Fox) to private foreign buyers. Marcon International, Inc. adds that they acted as broker for the sellers, to whom Marcon sold the vessel in 2006 from the West Coast. The 85â x 30â x 11â depth tug was built in 1981 at Dakota Creek Shipyard in Anacortes, Washington as the âArctic Foxâ for Bering Marine of Seattle.

Japanese Fleet ECDIS Contract for Cornes-MARIS Alliance
Norwegian maritime electronics specialist MARIS and Japanese high-tech firm Cornes & Co., Ltd. say they have won their first contract to deliver ECDIS equipment for the entire vessel fleet controlled by an unspecified Tokyo-based ship management company. The order will see MARIS ECDIS900 delivered for 20 bulk carriers, including 12 newbuilds, while installation onboard further bulk carriers is under consideration.
