Vehviläinen to be Cargotec's New President and CEO
Cargotec's Board of Directors has in its meeting on 27 January, 2013 appointed Mr. Mika Vehviläinen (M.Sc. (Econ.), b. 1961, as Cargotec's new President and CEO. Vehviläinen will start at Cargotec on 1 March 2013. Tapio Hakakari, Cargotec's Vice Chairman of the Board, will continue as the interim President and CEO until 28 February 2013. Mika Vehviläinen is currently the President and CEO of Finnair Plc.
First PSV 3300 for WWS launched
On January 18th, 2013, Damen Shipyards GalaÅ£i (Romenia) has launched the World Diamond, the first of a series of six fully equipped Platform Supply Vessels for Norwegian offshore company World Wide Supply. The PSV 3300 series is part of Damen´s newly designed range of platform suppliers. Like the other five ships, The World Diamond is built and completed in Galati in cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem (The Netherlands) which provides the design, engineering and main equipment.

Salvage Team Removes Fuel From Grounded USS Guardian
To prevent potential environmental damage, a U.S. Navy-led salvage team on Jan. 25 completed removing all diesel fuel from the tanks of the mine countermeasures ship USS Guardian (MCM 5), which ran aground on the Tubbataha Reef one week earlier. No fuel has leaked since the grounding and approximately 15,000 gallons was safely transferred to the contracted Malaysian tug Vos Apollo during controlled defueling operations that occurred over the last two days.

Tugboat Handed Over by Turkish Yard
Sanmar deliver the tugboat 'Ulupinar 14' to its owner, UK's SMS Towage, after a 6-month charter. Some 15 of this exclusive and versatile ASD model designed by the Robert Allan Limited team with considerable input from Ali Gurun, project director at Sanmar, have now been built. However, Ulupinar 14, although having been completed back in July 2012, has only just been handed over to its new owners, the UKās SMS Towage with the new name of Statesman.

Heavy Lift Ship Completes First DP2 Project
The contract required SAL's heavy lift ship 'MV Lone' to load & transport two structure to the field and deploy them to the seabed. The award of the contract proved the added value of the investments SAL made in the DP 2 system and also in the design, construction and testing of the hang-off beam. The first structure, a protection cover of 80 mt, intended to protect an existing pipeline and valve arrangement, was loaded in Ortona, Italy.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) plant the 555 mt island aboard 90% complete US carrier 'Gerald R. Ford'. HII celebrated significant progress as the 555-metric ton island was lowered onto the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) at the company's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division. The island will serve as the command center for flight deck operations aboard the first of the next-generation class of aircraft carriers.
