Shipyard Gets Orders for Two More LCS, Business Booms
The contract option taken up by the United States Navy funds construction of the Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) and Omaha (LCS 12), the third and fourth ships in the 10 ship block buy award made to an Austal-led team in December 2010. That 10 ship program is potentially worth over US$3.5 billion. Reflecting Austal’s growing stature in naval shipbuilding, Austal USA now holds confirmed contracts for 14 U.S.
China – Advanced Patrol Boat on First Mission
China's Maritime Patrolling and Surveillance Detachment report that Hiaxun 11 joined with three patrol vessels from Liaoning MSA to cruise in the Lvshun-Changxing water area. Haixun 11 is China's largest and most advanced patrol ship with a length of 114 meters and a displacement of 3,249 tons. She has a maximum speed of 22 knots. This cruise, focused on marine safety measures, lasted four-and-a-half hours on the look-out for floating ice, floating debris and fishing nets.
Ship Aground off China Coast – Offloading Containers
Singapore flag vessel m/v Bareli (35,881gt built 2004) is aground in Chinese waters having suffered hull damage. The crew has been rescued. The ship normally plies between ports in Africa and the Far East. The Fujian Maritime Rescue Center said that rescuers are working to retrieve the ship's fuel oil which has leaked into the sea, and they have called ship repair factories to send workers to help offload 1,913 containers loaded on the ship.
New Warship Sails Off to Join US Fleet
Huntington Ingalls Industries announce that the company's sixth amphibious transport dock, San Diego (LPD 22), has sailed from their yard en route to her commissioning site in San Diego. San Diego was delivered to the Navy in December following acceptance sea trials. Ingalls' test and trials team thoroughly tested the ship's main propulsion, steering, communications suite and deck missions systems.
Littoral Combat Ship Funding Boosted for Lockheed
Contract modification is for construction of Little Rock (LCS 9) and Sioux City (LCS 11). Construction on the first and second ships awarded under this contract, Milwaukee (LCS 5) and Detroit (LCS 7), is already underway. Two ships awarded under previous contracts include USS Freedom (LCS 1), currently being prepared for her next deployment, and Fort Worth (LCS 3), scheduled to be commissioned in September.

Local Shipyard Sells First Hi-speed 47 ft Craft at Dubai Show
The sale at the Dubai Boat Show of the Samawy Marine Boat Manufacturing Company's Samawy 44, marks a first for a Emerati builder who cares enough about preserving the marine environment to ensure that the new boat is eco-friendly. The boat has an open console making the craft most suitable for fishing, diving and day trips, measuring 14.4 metre in length, with three 350hp outboard max engines and a fuel capacity of 1,800 litres, the Samawy 44 is designed to reach a maximum speed of 42knots.
Marine Engine Maintenance, Overhaul Contract for Wärtsilä

Neuville Boat Works' 47-Footer
Work has been slow in a lot of Louisiana shipyards in the past couple of years. With orders for big crew boats in short supply, Neuville Boat Works of New Iberia, has been meeting steady orders for their 47-foot crew boats. The yard has been building this design, with a few modifications, for several decades. In the earlier days they built a 41-footer many of which are still working. Neuville recently delivered one of their 24-passenger vessels to Inland and Offshore Contractors Ltd.

First Subsea Wins Technip Connector contract
First Subsea Awarded Lucius Spar Mooring Connector Contract. Deepwater mooring specialist, First Subsea Ltd has been awarded a contract by Technip USA Inc to supply the mooring line connectors for a new spar platform moored in 7,000ft (2,134 m) of water in the Lucius field, Keathley Canyon block 875 in the Gulf of Mexico. The Lucius spar will be moored by nine Ballgrab ball and taper mooring connectors attached to polyester mooring lines.
