Safety alert: Working over water – Lloyd’s Register’s Golden Rules and Instructions for health and safety. Applicabilty: Owners, operators, shipyard managers and site controllers. The Lloyd’s Register Group has published a set of Health and Safety Golden Rules which our employees must follow to keep themselves, and those people around them, safe. Some of these Rules, together with our Instructions, are related to working over water, in particular the conduct of boat transfers.
MOL: Supporting Typhoon Relief Efforts in Philippines
MOL Training Ship Spirit of MOL Transports Aid Supplies; Volunteer Work on Site. MOL President Koichi Muto announced that its training ship, the Spirit of MOL (*1) has delivered aid supplies to Misamis Oriental Province on Mindanao Island, the Philippines, which suffered severe damage from typhoon Sendong (International name: Washi) in mid-December. The ship carried supplies provided by MOL, its group company Magsaysay MOL Marine, Inc. (*2) and the Philippine government.

Under New Ownership, Freeman Marine becomes part of the Advanced Marine Technologies Group. Freeman Marine Equipment Inc., a globally recognized brand and major US supplier to the worldwide marine industry, is now part of Advanced Marine Technologies (AMT). Austal chooses Survitec for new Fast Ferries
Austal Ships has selected Survitec Zodiac escape slides for the Perle Express and the Liberty vessels. Both are newly constructed 47m fast ferries and were completed at the Austal yard in Henderson, Western Austalia. Perle Express and Liberty entered service in October with their owner L’Express des Iles and are in use on routes between Guadeloupe, Les Saintes, Marie Galante, Dominique, Martinique and St Lucia.

Another discovery in the Gullfaks area
Statoil’s drilling of the Skinfaks South well in the North Sea has been completed and the estimated volume is between 1.9 and 6.9 million barrels of oil equivalents. This is the fourth infrastructure-near discovery in the Gullfaks area in a 10 month period. Light oil has been confirmed in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks (Brent group) and a 80 metre high column in good-quality reservoir rocks.
