Coast Guard's 1st decade in National Intel Community
December marked the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard’s formal entry into the national intelligence community, although many had long perceived the Coast Guard as a de facto member. The Coast Guard began its long involvement with the work of intelligence in 1790. Subsea Production Award to Aker Solutions
Aker Solutions has been awarded a job by Statoil for the engineering, procurement and construction of a subsea production system for the Svalin project on the Norwegian continental shelf. The contract value is approximately NOK 400 million. Scope of work includes two subsea trees, one four-slot integrated template structure with process distribution manifold, subsea and topside production control systems, wellhead systems and remote connection systems.

ChartWorld “Pay as You Sail” Service Approved
Following comprehensive trials, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) has approved ChartWorld GmbH’s “Pay as You Sail” (PAYS) service to PRIMAR RENC guidelines. The new service, which does not require any additional hardware onboard, makes use of the existing navigation and communications infrastructure that is already installed on most SOLAS vessels, combined with the established FleetTracker service from Jan Herberg Engineering, to meet PRIMAR tracking and reporting requirements for PAYS.

Volvo Penta IPS Power in Russian Pilot Boats
Russian state owned company Rosmorport has ordered six pilot boats powered by Volvo Penta´s Inboard Performace System (IPS) drive system. With the IPS system, the 14m pilot boats will increase performance and reduce fuel consumption. Volvo Penta launched its IPS six years.
