Ray Kranzusch has been appointed to the position of Product Manager, Oil and Gas Drills, for Atlas Copco Construction & Mining effective immediately. In his new role, Kranzusch will report directly to Scott Slater, Business Line Manager for Geotechnical Drilling and Exploration (GDE) and Atlas Copco Drilling Solutions – Oil and Gas. Most recently, Kranzusch served Atlas Copco’s Western Region in technical support for water well and oil and gas products.

GE Gas Turbines on Euro Frigate
GE Marine reports that the first frigate Aquitaine of the Italian-French FREMM program was recently launched at DCNS’ shipyard in Lorient, France. The ship is powered by the GE LM2500+G4 gas turbine-based propulsion system. Aquitaine sea trials were successfully completed in May 2011. Construction continues on the first Italian Navy FREMM Bergamini, with initial start of the LM2500+G4 gas turbine propulsion system expected within the next few months.

Off Shore Utility Vessel: IMO 2 Compliant
Sarawak Slipways has delivered a long list of anchor handling tugs and off shore vessels for petroleum producers around the world. In mid-June this year the yard completed sea trials on one of their larger vessels. The 61 by 14-meter Nautika Resolute is designated Offshore Utility Vessel and was built to a design by Wartsila Ship Design of Singapore. The vessel has a design speed of 12 knots but achieved 13.5 knots during sea trials.

Larsen will be responsible for the QA plan, in process inspections and documentation control for the on-going Transportable Port Security Boat (TPSB) contract with the U.S. Coast Guard. Sea Level Marine Completes Cruise Ship Renovations
Miami-based outfitting contractor Sea Level Marine announced its recent successful completion of a dry-dock refit of Crystal Cruises’ Serenity on May 21, 2011 at Meyer Werft yard in Hamburg, Germany. The scope of the 14-day project was an interior renovation of all passenger accommodations on the vessel including 436 Standard staterooms, 72 Penthouses, and 33 Penthouse Suites. Architectural design for the project was developed by II x IV Design of Toronto.
