STX Marine (STXM) announced that Gran Energia took delivery of the Compact Semi-Submersible (CSS) Olympia from MAC Offshore. STXM and partners in CSS Designs Ltd. developed the CSS design over the past five years, and said this delivery, will change the long term landscape of the Offshore Vessel market. Built by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in Fujian Province, China, the CSS Olympia has a length of 84.25m. with an overall capacity of 500 people.

Euroseas to Sell $29 Million in Shares
Euroseas Ltd. has announced that it entered into an agreement to sell 25,000 shares of its Series B Convertible Perpetual Preferred Shares to a fund managed by Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC (TCP) and 5,700 shares to Preferred Friends Investment Company Inc, an affiliate of the company, for expected net proceeds of approximately $29 million. The company intends to use the proceeds for the acquisition of vessels and general corporate purposes.

Kelvin Hughes to Supply Sharpeye Radar Systems
Kelvin Hughes announced that it has been contracted by VisSim, a VTMS system provider and integrator, to supply a total of 11 SharpEye radar sets for the protection of offshore facilities in Azerbaijan. As part of VisSim’s Marine Asset Protection and Surveillance System, Kelvin Hughes will be providing 10 SBS-800-1 (3.7m antenna) systems for offshore production platforms in the Caspian Sea, typically two radars per platform, and one SBS-800-2 (5.5m antenna) that will be installed onshore.
Diana Shipping, Clearlake Extend Charter
Diana Shipping Inc., a global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels, today announced that it has agreed to extend the present time charter contract with Clearlake Shipping Pte. Ltd., Singapore, for one of its Kamsarmax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Myrsini. The gross charter rate will remain $15,500 (USD) per day, minus a 4.75% commission paid to third parties, for a period of up to minimum February 15, 2015 to maximum May 10, 2015.

Rolls-Royce Develops OSV for Island Offshore
Rolls-Royce has won an order to provide integrated design and ship equipment for a highly innovative offshore vessel for Norwegian ship owner Island Offshore. The new striking UT 777 design has been developed in close cooperation with Island Offshore, to be used in offshore drilling operations during harsh weather conditions. The vessel (MOU) will be built in Japan by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and is scheduled for delivery in 2017. The contract is worth around £25 million to Rolls-Royce.

Bahri Drybulk Receives New 82,000 DWT Ship

China Warships Patrol Far Off Southern Island
China Navy's Nanhai Fleet flotilla is patrolling the Zengmu Reef, the southernmost part [of what it considers to be] the country's territory, and those on board the 3 ships took a ceremonial oath to safeguard sovereignty, reports Xinhua.
