Barge Sideswipes Terminal Pier near Jacksonville
The Coast Guard responded after a 700-foot barge broke free from its mooring near downtown Jacksonville, Fla., at approximately 8 p.m., Wednesday. Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center received notification from Crowley Marine that the 700-foot barge Miami broke loose from its mooring and sideswiped the Crowley Terminal pier and the tugboats Ensign and Patriarch. According to Crowley, the barge broke free of its mooring as a result of severe weather in the area.

LNG Carrier Anchored, Awaiting Dredging at Basin
The berth basin of the Petronet LNG terminal is not deep enough to facilitate the tanker vessel holding the terminal’s first consignment of LNG, forcing the ship to wait in anchorage at the Cochin Port as a navigable route is dredged, multiple news sources reported. The vessel is expected to sit for two or three days as the basin is dredged. The ship, WilEnergy, is carrying LNG from RasGas in Qatar to be delivered to the Rs 4,200 crore terminal.
Houlder, MPI Install 650T Pile Gripper Arms
The pile Gripper Arms, installed this week, stabilize 6m diameter 650t steel piles as they are driven into the seabed by the MPI Discovery installation jack up vessel. Installed on the vessel’s stern below deck level, they provide resistance to wave, tide and current forces in water depths of up to 40m. Their position and the additional control this provides significantly reduces installation times providing a valuable enhancement to the Discovery’s capability, Houlder said.
New Trader with Dan-Bunkering

Bibby Charter Enlarges North Sea DSV Fleet
Bibby Offshore expanded its fleet of North Sea class diving support vessels by signing a contract to charter the DPII DSV Mermaid Endurer from Subtech Ltd. on behalf of Mermaid Offshore Services. The charter will run from April, 2014 for 200 days with extension options and a similar optional period has been agreed from April 1, 2015. The vessel will join Bibby Offshore’s DSV fleet which includes the Bibby Sapphire, Bibby Polaris and Bibby Topaz, providing additional capacity for clients.

ABB to Power Sevan Offshore Accommodation Vessels

Maersk Line Bucks Trend: Profitable Q2 2013
Maersk Line made a profit of USD 439m (USD 227m) and a ROIC of 8.5% (4.6%) as reported in the company's second quarter 2013 interim report. The significant improvement in the financial performance was achieved through lower costs. Volumes increased 2.1%, average freight rate decreased 13.1% and total cost per FFE decreased by 12.7%.The cost decrease was mainly driven by vessel network efficien- cies and lower bunker price. GasLog has ordered two new 174,000 cbm Tri-Fuel Diesel Electric LNG carriers from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in South Korea.
