Ecospeed Rudder Coatings in Demand
Shipyards in China and Estonia treated the rudders of 8 vessels belonging to 5 different owners (4 of them return customers) in past two months. These owners, say Hydrex's Ecospeed, had experienced firsthand the devastating effect of cavitation on rudders coated with a traditional coating system. For this reason they decided to use Ecospeed to ensure lasting protection against corrosion and erosion damage for the rudders of their vessels for the remainder of their service life.

Bollinger Shipyards Deliver DP 2 Tugboat to Crowley Maritime
Bollinger Shipyards have delivered the DP 2 classed 'Ocean Sky', the fourth of four Ocean-class tugs for Crowley Maritime Corporation. The first two Ocean Class vessels, the Ocean Wave and Ocean Wind, classed as DP1, were delivered in Q4 2012. Ocean Sky, sister vessel to the Ocean Sun, was delivered in May 2013. At 156 feet in length, the Ocean Sky and Ocean Sun are 10 feet longer than the first two vessels and are rated at 10,880 HP.
Korean Yard to Build Fourth Atwood Ultra-deepwater Drillship
An Atwood Oceanics subsidiary has entered into a turnkey construction contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to construct a fourth ultra-deepwater drillship, to be named 'Atwood Archer'. The Atwood Archer is expected to be delivered by December31, 2015 at a total cost, including two blowout preventers , project management, drilling and handling tools and spares, of approximately $635-million.
