Dubai companies have expressed their investment interest in the development of Albania's Durres Port and Shengjin Port, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Albanian Transport and Infrastructure Minister Edmond Haxhinasto met with the chairman of the DP World group Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem and the delegation accompanying him, reports Xinhua.

The Dubai delegation during the two day stay in Albania will visit Durres Port and Shengjin Port.

The Port of Durres, the biggest port of Albania, is an artificial basin that is formed between two moles, with a west-northwesterly oriented entrance about 183 metres wide as it passes between the ends of the moles.

The implementation of the new project for the port of Shengjin would offer the possibility of development of the Balkan region, especially in the growth of trade exchanges with countries from all around the world.

The port is foreseen to be built in the rocky seacoast of Shengjin, north of Albania heading toward Velipoja, a very deep seacoast, which allows access to ships of up to 400,000 tons.
