Aker Solutions Acquires I.D.E.A.S

Aker Solutions acquired UK specialist engineering company International Design Engineering And Services Ltd (I.D.E.A.S) to boost its asset integrity management services. Glasgow, Scotland-based I.D.E.A.S. has developed software and technology that is designed to improve the quality and accuracy of integrity and life time analysis for oil and gas assets. The analysis can be applied in all phases of the development of an installation, from design through construction, operation and life extension. "This technology strengthens our offering of asset integrity management services," said Tore Sjursen, head of Aker Solutions' maintenance and modifications business. "It can be used to predict the lifetime of an installation in a more effective manner.

GL Noble Denton to Manage Premier Oil Asset Integrity

Premier Oil, the FTSE-250 oil and gas exploration and production company, has awarded a major asset integrity management contract to GL Noble Denton for the provision of asset integrity advice and inspection services across Premier Oil’s U.K. operated assets. Wire Rope Integrity Regulatory Update

IMCA Publishes Revision to Wire Rope Integrity Management Guidance

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has published a revised version of ‘Guidance on wire rope integrity management for vessels in the offshore industry’ (IMCA SEL 022 Rev. 2/IMCA M 194 Rev. 2). This is now available for downloading free of charge from the IMCA website. This document provides guidance on the necessary elements of an integrity management system required to achieve an acceptable level of ongoing safety for the use of wire ropes in a marine environment.

DNV Launches Synergi RBI Software

Managing onshore and offshore assets has previously demanded multiple risk-based inspection (RBI) software tools, increasing operator cost and reducing efficiency. With the new release of DNV Software’s Synergi Plant, which has integration with Synergi RBI, operators can use one complete quantitative risk assessment system, moving from subjective to objective decision making and from preventive to predictive maintenance. DNV Software is now launching the new Synergi Plant, bringing RBI software to a new level, where integrity management of process plants and offshore topsides can be achieved by one complete and integrated solution through integration with Synergi RBI Onshore and Synergi RBI Offshore.

The Middle East faces a substantial challenge to ensure hundreds of ageing offshore oil and gas structures operate safely beyond original design life. Three Specialists join Wood Group

Wood Group has appointed three senior engineering specialists who will lead a new team of up to 20 people in the UK to further build Wood Group’s capability in vibration, dynamics and noise. AVEVA Expands Services for Owner Operators

AVEVA announced that it is opening a new Center of Excellence for Operations Integrity Management Solutions for Owner Operators (OOs) in the oil and gas, process plant and power industries. $14m Up For Grabs in RPSEA R&D Program

RPSEA Releases Ultra-Deepwater Program RFP  to fund research & development projects to secure energy for America. The Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) announces the release of the remaining 2011 Ultra-Deepwater Program request for proposals (RFP) to award $14 million in oil and natural gas research and development projects offshore. 5401 - Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Riser for Dry Tree Drilling of High Pressure Wells (S&ES). The objective of this technical area of interest is to develop a carbon-fiber reinforced riser for dry tree Gulf of Mexico drilling, by expanding on the results from RPSEA Project 07121-1401.

CSC Launches Gas Storage Integrity Management Team

UK-based Chesterfield Special Cylinders (CSC) has launched a new integrity management team to work with owners and operators of high pressure gas storage vessels as installed in rigs and ships, and with gas majors and classification bodies to maximize vessels’ lifetime performance and safety. The integrity team is now managing periodic inspections and tests at its Sheffield, England factory as well as delivering them worldwide while the vessels remain installed. It is also delivering vessel life extension support services to high pressure gas users globally.

ABS Forms Asset Performance Management Group

ABS, a provider of global maritime classification services, announced the formation of the Asset Performance Management Group (APMG). The new organization integrates several existing services into a single team focused on complete life cycle performance services that complement traditional classification services. Lloyd's Register to support Maersk FPSO

Lloyd’s Register EMEA has been awarded the global contract to provide Maersk FPSOs with a comprehensive suite of technical services to assure the reliable operation of its fleet of floating oil and gas production units which serves some of the world's biggest offshore fields. The multi-year agreement will require the combined expertise of the energy and marine teams at Lloyd's Register to deliver a suite of technical services -- including integrity and inspection management, classification, verification and engineering support -- to help ensure safe and sustainable operations. There is an option to extend beyond the original contract period.

ABS Group Signs on Elba LNG Project

ABSG Consulting Inc., a subsidiary of ABS Group of Companies, Inc. (ABS Group), has been contracted by Kinder Morgan, Inc. to develop a Maintenance and Integrity Program for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal at Elba Island (Elba LNG Project) near Savannah, Georgia. ABS Group will develop the maintenance and integrity programs for the base plant, balance of plant and the terminal upgrade. The full scope of ABS Group's services cover program development and execution, including project management, strategy development and business processes, asset register, mechanical integrity (MI), preventative maintenance development, spare parts and bill of materials, as well as data asset management services.

ABS to Host Offshore Wind Seminar

Aker Solutions Wins North Sea Contracts

Norwegian oil services firm Aker Solutions won two offshore contracts, including a 120 million pound ($188.82 million) deal to provide engineering, construction and commissioning services on Statoil's Mariner development in the UK, it said on Monday. The firm also won a two-year contract extension worth 360 million Norwegian crowns for asset integrity management work at 11 offshore and three onshore locations for Statoil in Norway. Aubin and Flexlife Partener for Integrity Solutions

Offshore chemical engineering specialist Aubin Group has formed a cooperation agreement with subsea flexible pipe specialist Flexlife to create an industry first in subsea integrity management (IM). Aubin Integrity, a division of Aubin Group, and Flexlife are working together to provide full-service IM solutions to the oil and gas industry. Under the cooperation, Aubin Integrity will supply its development team to create bespoke products and provide offshore personnel for operations.

ISO Endorsement for XPD8’s Quality Systems

Aberdeen-based XPD8 Solutions has achieved the internationally recognized ISO 9001 accreditation for quality management. XPD8, which specializes in the management of maintenance systems for oil and gas producing assets, undertook the assessment as a way of supporting future business growth and ensuring high standards throughout the business. ISO 9001 was assessed independently by Lloyds Register to criteria set globally by the International Organization for Standardization. This system of evaluation is being increasingly used across the oil and gas industry. XPD8 recently announced plans to increase its workforce with the creation of 18 new positions following the award of contracts worth more than £2million.

DNV’s Hull Integrity System Now Integrated with AMOS

DNV and AMOS system supplier SpecTec have launched an all-in-one planned inspection and maintenance system for ship structures. AMOS is a system that crew and management are already familiar with, and in combination with DNV’s Hull Integrity Management system, the software’s accessibility further simplifies inspection planning, reporting and monitoring. The new combined application uses the DNV vessel-specific hull inspection forms and procedures that come as part of the Hull Integrity Management (HIM) system. The easy-to-use software has unique 3D inspection and reporting functionality that helps with the early detection of defects so they can be dealt with before they lead to costly off-hire time.
