VIKING Wins Large Hellenic Coastguard Patrol Boat Order

VIKING Norsafe Life-saving Equipment HELLAS has secured orders from Greeceā€™s Ministry of Shipping & Island Policy to deliver 31 patrol boats and three high-speed boats to the Hellenic Coast Guard. The orders, covered in three separate contracts with the VIKING Life-saving Equipment subsidiary, are part of an EU-backed Hellenic Coast Guard procurement program which was initiated four years ago.Two of the contracts cover 31 boats based on VIKING Norsafeā€™s proven Munin S1200 hull form, with the design adapted to meet client requirements.

Operating on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from day one in service, the MV George III, the first of Pasha Groupā€™s two new ā€˜Ohana Classā€™, Jones Act-qualified containerships, features a state-of-the-art engine, an optimized hull form, and an underwater propulsion system with a high-efficiency rudder and propeller. George III is the first LNG-powered vessel to fuel on the West Coast and the first to serve Hawaii. The 774-ft. Jones Act vessel surpasses the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2030 emission standards for ocean vessels.

VIKING Life-Saving Equipment and maritime electric motor systems developer Evoy launched an electrically powered 6.55m rescue boat, the VIKING Norsafe E-Mako-655. BW Offshore Orders VIKING Lifeboats for Australia-bound FPSO

Offshore safety equipment provider VIKING has said it has won a contract with FPSO supplier BW Offshore to deliver has selected VIKING Norsafe free-fall lifeboats, daughter craft, and davits for a large FPSO project which will operate off northern Australia.While VIKING did not share the exact name of the FPSO project, this is most likely the Barossa FPSO BW Offshore is building for deployment at Santos' Barossa project.The safety equipment provider said that the primary means of evacuation from the FPSO will be three VIKING Norsafe GES-50 Mk.

VIKING Delivers Ambulance Boat for the Hellenic Coastguard

VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has delivered the first vessel in a series of three new ambulance boats for the Hellenic Coastguard.For many years, the Coastguard and the Hellenic National Center for Emergency Care (EKAB) have worked together to support patient transfer requirements from the Greek islands to larger hospitals. Today, a call for transport services is almost a daily occurrence.The new closed-cabin boat will be station in Naxos as the first in a series of special craft equipped with medical equipment.

Danish company  Viking Life-Saving Equipment has won an order for eleven METIS Rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) from the Greek Navy.The new RIBs will be deployed mainly to support search and rescue operations on delivery over the summer of 2020. Polar Research Ship Commissions Lifeboats

UKā€™s new polar research ship being built at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead RRS Sir David Attenborough has achieved another important milestone with the commissioning and testing of the shipā€™s lifeboats and lifeboat davits.The lifeboats, each capable of carrying 90 people, are now in position on both sides of the vessel, along with the operational davits that allow for the safe deployment and recovery of the boats.RRS Sir David Attenborough is the first International Maritime Organisationā€™s Polar Code-compliant ship to have been built in the UK. VIKING has secured a contract from Kværner AS to deliver three VIKING Norsafe E-GES 52 electric free-fall lifeboats and compatible davits, in a significant advance for electric propulsion. VIKING Wins Norwegian Police Patrol Boat Contract

After two years of slightly declining revenue, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S is seeing growth once more, said the global market leader in maritime and offshore safety.In 2018, VIKING acquired the Norwegian manufacturer of lifeboats Norsafe AS. Maritime safety equipment manufacturer and global service provider VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S has acquired Norsafe, the Norwegian boatbuilder whose lifeboats are used throughout the world. Norsafe Launches New Fast Rescue and Patrol Boat at Seawork

Norsafe has carried out extensive research and development in the last few years to develop a new range of robust and safe boats for the Military and Professional market. Using the experience gained from the closed cabin 1200 and S1200 in the Munin range, an open version is now ready for sea trials and will be launched at Seawork International on July 3-5 in Southampton, UK. The latest boat has already been tested by Norsafeā€™s engineers together with user groups representing the coast guard, maritime police, customs and special forces. The overall feedback has been very positive.

Norsafe Bags Patrol Boats Order

Norsafe announced it has recently secured an order from Papastratos Tobacco Company S.A., an affiliate of Philip Morris International in Greece, for the construction of five high speed patrol boats, which will be donated to the Hellenic Coast Guard.The donation of the boats is part of the international project PMI Impact, created by Philip Morris International, whose aim is to support public and private bodies in the fight against smuggling and related crimes.The five units will be manufactured in Greece and are expected to join the Hellenic Coast Guard fleet at the end of 2018.

Norsafe : Deadline Looms for Lifeboat Hook Replacement

Norsafe advises the industry that it needs to ensure that all shipsā€™ on-load LSA release mechanisms comply with SOLAS Resolution MSC.317(89) by 1st July 2019. In some instances, this may mean that a lifeboatā€™s release and retrieval system needs to be modified or replaced on or before that date, normally at the next scheduled dry-docking, as only hooks certified and tested in compliance with the aforementioned SOLAS resolution and named in the IMO GISIS database will be allowed on any lifeboat with onload hooks. Norsafeā€™s on-load hook release system, called the TOR MK2, complies with all SOLAS regulations and the LSA code. It has been designed with three main priorities in mind; minimal maintenance, high safety precautions and simplicity of use.

Norsafe Enters the Cruise and Passenger Ferry Market

Lifeboat manufacturer Norsafe has developed a new partially enclosed lifeboat (PELB) for passenger vessels: the SOLAS compliant Minima 88, a compact 8.8m long boat with a width of 4.25m for 150 persons. Norsafe said it has received an order from Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipyard to provide six of its new Minima-88 lifeboats with compatible LHD-200 davits for Finland based operator Viking Line. The ferry newbuild is due to enter service in 2021 on routes across the Baltic Sea between Turku, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden.

Norsafe Secures $23 mln in Contracts

Norsafe reported that it has secured more than 200 million NOK ($23.6 million) in LSA contracts that have been put out to tender so far this year. In addition to the recently announced contract with Kværner for delivery of three of Norsafeā€™s largest freefall lifeboats with davit systems to the Njord A platform, Norsafe has won several other significant contracts, both for new builds and upgrade projects. The result is a unique autonomous IP 67 compliant liquid cooled modular system that can be combined in a ā€œlego-likeā€ fashion to meet smaller vesselsā€™ space and power requirements up to a 2C power range at costs that opens many new applications. The first joint product, AKAZEM 15 OEM, is a self-contained modular battery unit specifically designed for work boats in the aquaculture industry, fishing boats and smaller passenger ferries.
