RH Marine Launches Rhodium Product Line

System integrator and innovator of electrical and automation systems RH Marine has officially launched its own product family brand at the international maritime trade fair SMM in Hamburg last week. RH Marine said product innovation is one of its main focusses. During the years this has resulted in multiple quality brands such as UniMacs integrated bridge and FT NavVision. To provide a clear overview of the RH Marine product portfolio, RH Marine has chosen to place all products under one new brand: Rhodium.

Burroughs Manager of Balpure

Severn Trent De Nora has named William Burroughs as manager of its Balpure ballast water treatment product line. Corvus Energy Unveils Orca ESS Product Line

Manufacturer of lithium-ion based energy storage systems (ESS) Corvus Energy said it is set to unveil its next generation product line, Orca ESS, specifically designed and built to meet the needs of maritime applications. The Orca ESS product line, which will make its public debut at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo in Amsterdam, June 21-23, has been developed based on experience from more than 50 vessels currently utilizing a Corvus ESS, totaling over 35MWh installed and 1 million operating hours, Corvus Energy said.

Orca ESS Retrofit for Norwegian Research Vessel

Corvus Energy’s next generation Orca ESS has been selected by Halvorsen for the retrofit of the fisheries and environmental research vessel MS Johan Hjort. Halvorsen Power System AS has selected Corvus Energy as the supplier of the lithium ion based energy storage system (ESS) for a retrofit of marine research vessel, MS Johan Hjort. Corvus will supply its recently released, next generation Orca Energy solution to provide power to the vessel for peak shaving, research operations and crew comfort.

Canada Backs Corvus Energy ESS Development

Corvus Energy Inc. said it has been awarded funding from the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program for the development and expansion of the company's next generation Orca energy storage system (ESS) product line. Corvus Energy, a Canadian manufacturer of lithium-ion based battery systems, will receive up to $469,500 in non-repayable funding from the Government of Canada. This investment is made through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) which supports numerous small and medium-sized enterprises in Canada every year in the development and commercialization of technologies.

Kobelt Acquires Accu-Steer

Kobelt announced today the acquisition of Accu-Steer Inc., a US-based manufacturer of quality Hydraulic Steering Actuators. Founded by Bill Pulse and Paul Barber in 1993, Accu-Steer designs and builds a range of hydraulic power steering units. For over 22 years, the company has specialized in the design and manufacturing of reliable solutions for guiding and controlling motion on commercial vessels and pleasure craft.

Brennan Expands Inventory Capabilities in Canada

New facility and positive customer response spur inventory growth in hydraulic and instrumentation product lines. Brennan Industries, Inc., an international supplier of hydraulic fittings and adapters, announced it is more than doubling its inventory in Canada at its distribution facility, located in Mississauga, Ontario. “We’re in the process of bulking up our product inventory in Mississauga,” said Bill Jarrell, vice president of marketing and operations at Brennan Industries. Brennan is primarily increasing its inventory of hydraulic and instrumentation product lines.

NORAC, a supplier of marine interior systems, has decided to expand its offerings into marine furniture by securing a majority stake in Nordic Marine Furniture, a quality furniture and fittings company dedicated to merchant shipping and offshore installations. Kahlenberg Acquires Airchime Marine and Industrial Product Lines

Kahlenberg Brothers Company of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, purchased the Marine and Industrial divisions of Airchime Manufacturing Co., Ltd. of Langley, B.C., Canada. Since 1929, Airchime air horns, electric horns, and accessories have been well known for their high quality and durability in commercial marine, industrial, and locomotive applications. All Airchime Marine and Industrial products will now be manufactured in Kahlenberg’s existing facility in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. While some of the Airchime products have competed directly with Kahlenberg products in the commercial marine and industrial sectors, many of the Airchime designs are complementary to Kahlenberg’s existing product line, and greatly expand the range of products that can now be offered by Kahlenberg Brothers Company.

Miller Expands Metal Cutting Offering

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. announced that it has consolidated the Smith Equipment oxy-fuel cutting equipment product line under the Miller brand. The consolidation expands the current Miller metal cutting offering, which includes a variety of portable plasma cutting packages. The oxy-fuel product line will continue to be manufactured in Watertown, S.D., to the same high quality standards. The only difference is that the name on the product will change to Miller, the company said.

SSI Hires Holder for US Sales

SSI has hired CAD/CAM specialist Robert Holder as part of its sales force in the U.S. market. According to SSI, the hiring is intended to meet the expanding demand for SSI's design and manufacturing solutions in the shipbuilding and offshore industries. Holder, SSI's new Sales Account Executive for Enterprise Solutions, will help businesses assess SSI’s expanded capabilities, including the expanded ShipConstructor CAD/CAM product line, EnterprisePlatform product line and new pricing options that SSI now offers. He will be based in the Gulf Coast Region but will provide technical consultation to the shipbuilding and offshore industry throughout the United States.

IMA and Delta Marine Sign Agreement

International Maritime Associates, L.L.C and Delta Marine International, Inc. have announced an agreement formalizing IMA as the exclusive worldwide sales and marketing agent for all Chem-Free TM Purification Systems in the marine industry. IMA is a Fort Lauderdale based consulting firm catering to the Mega Yacht segment of the marine industry. The Chem-Free Purification Systems product line provides a cost effective way to efficiently deliver Ozone into the potable water system, black and gray water systems via “Silent” Corona Discharge and air conditioning systems onboard via Ultraviolet or “UV”, thus eliminating odor and bacteria in all areas and increasing potable water and indoor air quality.

Ellicott Takes On Rohr-Idreco Line in Latin America

Ellicott Dredges LLC & Rohr-Idreco Dredge Systems, which are owned by Ellicott Dredge Enterprises, LLC, has  announced that Ellicott's Latin American Sales Manager, Andres Borasino, will be adding the Rohr-Idreco deep digging dredge product lines to his area of responsibilities. The three product lines complement each other by offering customers multiple dredging options based on the their material and digging depth requirements. Andres has been with Ellicott for over four years successfully expanding the brand throughout Latin America.

Patterson Acquires Blackburn Marine

Manufacturer to Service Deck Fitting Product Line. Patterson Manufacturing, the marine equipment manufacturer based in Pittsburgh, today announced that it has acquired Blackburn Marine, a deck fitting manufacturer based in Canyon Lake, Texas. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. "We're pleased to be able to service Blackburn's excellent product lines," said David Grapes, CEO of Patterson. "Blackburn has been producing high-quality deck equipment for years, and their products are a fitting complement to our own. Patterson Manufacturing has been manufacturing winches, ratchet turnbuckles, tensors, and other marine equipment for more than 150 years.

ABS Forms Asset Performance Management Group

ABS, a provider of global maritime classification services, announced the formation of the Asset Performance Management Group (APMG). The new organization integrates several existing services into a single team focused on complete life cycle performance services that complement traditional classification services. "The future of classification requires ABS to work with our members and clients in a more collaborative, more efficient and less intrusive way," said ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.
