On Saturday, June 16, 2018, Webb Institute awarded 21 Bachelor of Science degrees at its 122nd Commencement Ceremony. Resolve Marine Offers OPA-90 Guidance

Lord Joins Resolve Marine Group

Martha Lord has joined Resolve Marine Group as Manager of Marketing and Communications in the company’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla. headquarters at 1850 S.E. 17th Street, Suite 204. Lord manages marketing, public relations and advertising for all divisions of the company, including Resolve Salvage and Fire, and Resolve Maritime Academy. Lord was formerly with the Ruden McClosky law firm in Fort Lauderdale, where she was Communications Manager for their statewide practice. Previously, she was Director of Association Services for the Marine Industries Association of South Florida.

Resolve Refloats Cruise Ship in Northwest Passage

Resolve Marine Group refloated the Clipper Adventurer cruise ship recently. The vessel had run aground on rocks in Coronation Gulf, in Canada's Northwest Passage on Friday, August 27. The Resolve salvage team deployed four tugs at high tide, to free the stranded vessel. The Clipper had sustained several breeches to the hull when it ran aground the rocks last month, with passengers onboard. The Canadian Coast Guard evacuated the passengers without incident before the salvage operations began.

Resolve Marine Group Foregoes Retainer Fees

Resolve Marine Group, the marine salvage and firefighting company, announced that they will forego charging their OPA-90 clients retainer fees through 2011. While other salvage and marine firefighting companies have announced per vessel fees of $250 or $500 per year, Resolve guarantees their policy of “no retainer or administrative fees through 2011”. Captain Farhat Imam, Chief Operating Officer at Resolve said, “We expect the OPA-90 response business sector to stabilize before we make any decision regarding 2012 fees. The USCG OPA-90 regulations finalized requirements for salvage and marine fighting response (SMFF) on December 31, 2008. February 22, 2011 is the deadline for most Vessel Response Plans to include a SMFF section with a named and contracted primary responder.

Nick Sloane Joins Resolve Marine Group

Senior Salvage Master Nick Sloane has joined the senior management team at Resolve Marine Group., aiming to help guide the global growth of the marine services company. The news comes just months after Resolve opened its operations in Gibraltar, expanding its emergency response capabilities to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “Nick is a force in the industry and now that Resolve has a worldwide footprint, he is a natural fit,” said Joe Farrell, President and CEO of Resolve Marine Group.

On February 2nd, 2011, a team of emergency responders from Resolve Marine Group and Pacific Environmental Corporation (dba PENCO)/American Marine Corporation, demonstrated their marine fire fighting capabilities in Honolulu Harbor. The trained crew of locally and internationally recognized professionals conducted an equipment deployment exercise, utilizing pumps and fire fighting monitors stored at the PENCO/American Marine facilities on pier 13, and operated from the deck of the M/V American Islander.

Resolve Marine Group Refloats Drydock in Guam

Resolve Marine Group has successfully raised and refloated the “Machinist” drydock at Guam Shipyard in Apra Harbor, Guam. The 825-ft drydock sank on January 2, 2011 during a rough weather event. Resolve began the salvage job on January 31 and successfully refloated the drydock on March 3. Resolve’s Salvage Master, Salvage Engineer, and salvage divers first conducted a comprehensive casualty assessment to determine the structural and watertight conditions of the drydock and to ascertain the status of drydock systems.

Resolve Marine Group Adds Suhaili Ocean Tug to Fleet

Resolve Expands European Presence

Resolve Salvage & Fire (Europe), Ltd., the European emergency response subsidiary of U.S.- based Resolve Marine Group, Inc., has added a new office at 23, Austin Friars, London, expanding the company’s U.K. operations base. Wreck Removal Continues for Pacific Paradise

Work on the Pacific Paradise continues and the unified command has contracted Resolve Marine Group with support from several other experts to conduct the removal of the pollution threat. Mediterranean Shipping Company Cleans Up Durban Cargo Spill

When a freak storm hit the Port of Durban on 10 October 2017, two cargo containers holding plastic nurdles were dislodged from the deck of an MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company cargo vessel and fell into the harbour. The containers were particularly vulnerable at that time, as they had been loosened for unloading, in line with standard port operations procedures. Hurricane-force winds, torrential rains and flash-floods hit the port of Durban and surrounding region in what amounted to a provincial disaster.
