First LNG Carrier Arrives at New German Mukran Terminal

The first vessel carrying LNG for Germany's Baltic Sea terminal of Mukran arrived on Saturday for a test operation as the country steps up its quest to replace Russian pipeline gas.Private company Deutsche ReGas said that Energos Power, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), had moored at the terminal on Ruegen Island, having received approval from local authorities.Germany has intensified its quest to increase LNG capacity for regasification on its shores, as European countries seek to reduce their heavy reliance on Russian gas following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.The tests will

The formal appointment will take place at Van Oord's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on April 11, 2024.The Board is pleased to be able to transfer the leadership of the family business from the 4th to the 5th generation Van Oord family.Govert van Oord has been with Van Oord since 2002 and has worked for the company in the Middle East, Spain and Brazil, among others. He is currently responsible for the Dredging & Infra Business Unit as Managing Director.

Van Oord Christens Calypso Cable Layer

Dutch offshore installation contractor Van Oord on Saturday held a christening ceremony in Rotterdam for its new cable laying vessel Calypso."The Calypso is equipped with the latest sustainable technologies and will be a key strategic addition to Van Oord’s offshore wind fleet," Van Oord said.The vessel was christened by Ms. Inca Cerutti. She is the wife of Niek Hoek, chairman of the Supervisory Board. After the ceremony, the  christening lady and employees and guests had the opportunity to board the vessel for a guided tour.The Calypso Van Oord’s second cable-laying vessel.

Port of Rotterdam Names Siemons Interim CEO

Boudewijn Siemons will become interim CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority effective July 15, 2023, taking the reins from Allard Castelein, who is stepping down as CEO this summer after nearly a decade in the position.Siemons, who currently serves as the port's COO, will combine both positions until a new CEO has been appointed.In addition, Vivienne de Leeuw will stay on as CFO. Belgian tanker operator Euronav announced Tuesday that its CEO Hugo De Stoop is stepping down after nearly two decades with the company, including four years as CEO.Euronav said its CFO Lieve Logghe will serve as interim CEO as the company searches for a new CEO. Van Oord Christens Second LNG-powered TSHD Vox Apolonia

Van Oord announced on Tuesday it has christened its new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Vox Apolonia, built by Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd shipyard in Singapore.The newbuild is the second in a series of three new dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled TSHDs being built for the Dutch dredging and marine services contractor.The 10,500-cubic-meter-capacity Vox Apolonia and its sister vessels Vox Ariane and Vox Alexia, fall into the mid-class section of Van Oord’s TSHD fleet. measuring 137.5 meters long and 27.6 meters across the beam.

Euronav Seeks Urgent Arbitration over Frontline's Unilateral Merger Termination

Belgian tanker operator Euronav has filed an application for urgent arbitration in relation to tanker firm Frontline’s unilateral termination of the previously proposed merger agreement.Frontline on January 9 said that a $4.2 billion deal to merge with rival Euronav NV was terminated, a combination that would have created the world's largest publicly listed tanker company."Euronav is requesting to suspend such termination pending a determination on the merits pursuing primarily the specific performance of the combination agreement.

During the Maritime Awards Gala in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Kommer Damen was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his achievements, methods and contribution to the Dutch maritime industry. Damen (78) is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Damen Shipyards Group and is still internationally active in the company that he took over from his father and uncle in 1969.Kommer Damen is a member of the (Dutch) Maritime Council and Honorary Consul of Mexico. From 1988 to 2020 he was a board member of maritime industry association NMT (formerly VNSI).

HAL Making 'Good Progress' With Boskalis Takeover Offer

HAL Holding, which on March 10 announced plans to launch a takeover offer for the Dutch marine services and dredging giant Boskalis' all remaining shares, said Thursday it was making good progress with the offer preparation.The company had said in March it planned to launch an all-cash voluntary public offer of €32.50 per share for all issued and outstandingordinary shares of Boskalis. HAL had 46.2% shares at the time of the announcement."HAL confirms that it is making good progress on the preparation of the Offer.

David Roodenburg Takes Over as Huisman CEO

David Roodenburg is the third generation from the Roodenburg family to become CEO of the Netherlands-based equipment manufacturer Huisman.His father, Joop Roodenburg, is currently active as President after he appointed Theo Bruijninckx CEO in April 2018, with the objective to prepare the company for the next generation. Scandlines Orders Zero-emissions Ferry from Cemre

Denmark-headquartered Scandlines said it has entered into a contract with Turkey's Cemre Shipyard to build an emissions-free freight ferry for the Puttgarden-Rødby route. The ferry will enter service in 2024.With a crossing time of one hour, the ferry is emissions free. It can also be operated as a hybrid ferry like the current passenger ferries on the Scandlines routes between Germany and Denmark. As a hybrid ferry, the crossing time is 45 minutes.Initially, the ferry will exclusively charge in Rødby.

Golar LNG said on Tuesday it has appointed Callum Mitchell-Thomson as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective April 20.In October 2019, Golar LNG announced its current CFO, Graham Robjohns, would step down. Robjohns will remain in his current position until April 20, 2020 and will leave Golar on April 30, 2020.Robjohns' successor, Mitchell-Thomson, has 21 years of experience advising energy, utility and infrastructure companies on M&A and capital markets transactions while working for JP Morgan.

DCSA Sets Track and Trace Standards
