Roxtec Sees Rise in Cruise Ship Repair Work
Manchester cable safety seal manufacturer Roxtec has reported increased demand for its cruise ship cable and pipe seals. The firm has seen a 67 percent rise in sales for its watertight pipe and cable seals in the U.K. marine market in the last 12 months. Roxtec UK managing director Graham O’Hare said the firm’s plastic pipe seals are suited for cruise liners as they help reduce weight, ensuring operators use less fuel, lower a ship’s emissions and save money.

Shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) launched the second minelayer, MLS-II Nampo, for the Korean Navy. In attendance at the MLS-II launching ceremony were Baek Seung-joo, Vice Minister of National Defense of Republic of Korea; Kwon Oh-gap, President & CEO of HHI; and 100 other guests. Wärtsilä wins BWMS Order for 3 Vessels
Wärtsilä has received another important order for its Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS). Three new container ships being built for a major European shipping company at the Jinhai Shipyard in China will be fitted with Wärtsilä Aquarius UV BWMS. The order was placed with Wärtsilä in the first quarter of 2015. Wärtsilä will deliver the BWMS equipment to the first vessel at the end of 2015, and for the other two ships during 2016.
