Transnet Awards Bid for Cape Town Cruise Terminal
Transnet National Ports Authority awarded the V&A Waterfront (Pty) Ltd the status of Preferred Bidder for the development of a cruise terminal at the Port of Cape Town, Transnet said on Tuesday. Once all negotiations are concluded, the V&A Waterfront will invest just under R179 million to finance, design, and develop the terminal. In addition, the agreement includes operation, maintenance and transfer of ownership of the facility back to TNPA after a period of 20 years.

Samsung Bags $4.7bn Order for 3 FLNG from Shell Gas
South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co. as won a 5.2 trillion won (US$4.7 billion) order to build three floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities, reports Yonhap. FLEX Acquires LNG Assets from EXMAR
Nicolas Saverys-led Exmar has agreed to integrate its LNG assets and infrastructure with those of John Fredriksen’s Geveran and Flex LNG under a new USD 2.3 billion company – Exmar LNG Ltd. Belgian liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier owner and operator Exmar and Geveran will pool their LNG assets and infrastructure under Flex LNG, in exchange for new shares in Flex LNG. Following the transaction, Exmar have a stake of 64.6 percent in Flex LNG, while Gerevan sits at 30.7 percent of the shares.
Cargoship Disabled and Grounded in Dardanelles
General cargo vessel Ibrahim Konan (7,618 dwt, built 2008) today (July 1) suffered rudder failure and ran aground in Dardanelles in front of Eceabat in Turkey, while transiting in southern direction. The 109 meters long vessel loaded with ammonium sulfate is en route from Novorossiysk Russia to Abu Qir Egypt. The ship is operated by Turkey’s Konan Shipping. According to the captain's statement, the board learned that there are no leaks or injury. In the examination detected no pollution.
COSCO Receives Fund for Fleet Renewal
China COSCO Holdings Co Ltd says it has received ship scrapping subsidies for about 3.96 billion yuan ($638.71 million). The perception that Indian Ocean is India's "backyard" may result in clashes, Chinese military officials and experts have cautioned. EU Funds Port Move
The Port of Cork has received almost EUR13 million in EU funds for the Euro100 million redevelopment of Ringaskiddy, as part of plans to modernize the port. The funding comes under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and is primarily aimed at creating jobs and boosting growth.
