USCG Repatriates 12 Migrants
The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Confidence repatriated 12 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Saturday. While on routine patrol a Coast Guard aircraft spotted a vessel with migrants aboard south of Marquesas Keys, Florida, Wednesday. The aircraft notified Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders who quickly diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Venturous to the scene. Upon arriving on scene, the Venturous crew embarked 14 Cuban migrants including 10 men and four women.

Naval War College Contributions Recognized
U.S. Naval War College (NWC) leaders and alumni received a warm welcome on Capitol Hill, Oct. 7 during a congressional breakfast organized by Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed. The event offered a chance for members of Congress and their staff to hear details of how NWC educates and develops leaders, strengthens global maritime partnerships and supports Navy missions and combat readiness. Today, General Dynamics Electric Boat christened the Illinois (SSN 786), the 13th submarine of the U.S. Navy's Virginia Class. Major Milestone for Lerwick's New Quay
Lerwick’s Holmsgarth North project reached a major milestone at the weekend with completion of the sheet pile walls of the new pier. Early completion of the piling is a splendid achievement by contractor Tulloch Developments and very timeous before the weather broke with autumn gales. The new jetty is already providing a significant shelter improvement. The overall project is due for completion one year from now.
