3 Rescued on Eastern Lake Erie
The Coast Guard assisted three people Saturday afternoon after three flares were sighted from shore near Hamburg, New York. The names of those rescued are not being released and there are no photos or video available for this case. Shortly before 5 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Buffalo, New York, were notified that three red flares had been sighted offshore in Lake Erie in the vicinity of Hamburg Beach in Hamburg, New York.
Dorian Acquires ECO VLGC Challenger
Dorian LPG Ltd., a leading owner and operator of modern Very Large Gas Carriers ("VLGCs"), reported today that it took delivery of the ECO VLGC Challenger from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. The Challenger is Dorian LPG's 18th newbuilding delivery. The Challenger will trade in the Helios LPG Pool. With the acquistion of this newly-delivered Challenger, Dorian LPG currently owns and operates 21 modern VLGCs and one pressurized LPG vessel.
Renewal of Bunker, CLC, Athens and WRC Certificates
Time has come for most shipowners to apply for renewal of Bunker, CLC, Athens and Wreck Removal Certificates from the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA). Certificates must be renewed when the underlying insurance expires. Ships subject to a requirement for a certificate are not allowed to operate without the certificate. All Bunker, CLC, Athens and Wreck Removal Certificates based on P&I insurance typically expire on 20 February 2016.
Gonzalez Passing Exercise with Turkish Navy
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) participated in a bilateral passing exercise (PASSEX), Dec. 11, with the Turkish Navy.
