Two Rescued from Stranded Vessel near Everett
Coast Guard personnel rescued two fishermen from a 28-foot recreational vessel when it became stranded with a disabled engine and grounded due to shoal water near Everett Wednesday night. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles hoisted the men and transported them safely to Paine Field in Snohomish County. Dispatchers from 911 transferred a call for help to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound at 1:25 p.m.
Lerwick Port Charges Revised
From 1 January 2016, Lerwick’s tariff for harbour charges will increase by an inflationary 1%. The charges can be viewed on their website and hard copies of the booklet are available on request. During 2016, the port looks forward to completion of two major new berthing projects at Holmsgarth North and Dales Voe, adding to the comprehensive deep-water berthing available at Lerwick.
NYK's SIMS Recognized at Eco-Products Awards
NYK’s Ship Information Management System (SIMS), jointly developed by NYK and the Monohakobi Technology Institute (MTI; head office: Tokyo; president: Makoto Igarashi), has been recognized with Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award at the 2015 Eco-Products Awards.* An awards ceremony was held on December 10, 2015, and attended by Yasuo Tanaka, NYK senior managing corporate officer, and Makoto Igarashi, president of MTI.
Colombo Port Hits Record 5 mln Containers
For the first time in history the Port of Colombo reaches 05 million container operations. To mark the ocassion, a ceremony will be held tomorrow, Monday 21st December 2015 at the Jaya Container Terminal of Sri Lanka Ports Authority , with the initiative of Hon.Minister of Port and Shipping Arjuna Ranathunga. With the latest initiatives implemented at Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), its operational volumes show a rapid growth compared to similar periods during past.
Scorpio Charters Out Ice Class Tanker Duo
Scorpio Tankers Inc. announced today that it has entered into time charter-out agreements for two ice class 1A Handymax product tankers and an update on its Securities Repurchase Program. The Company has entered into time charter-out agreements with an unrelated third party on two ice class 1A Handymax product tankers. The term of each agreement is for three years at $18,000 per day, with each charter scheduled to commence by the end of January 2016.
SCI Awarded IMS Cetification
The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd was awarded the Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification at its Head Office at Mumbai on 23rd December, 2015 by Arun Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and congratulated SCI on “another feather in its existing hat of firsts”.
