Shots Fired: US Navy Ship Warns Iranian Vessel
A U.S. Navy ship fired warning shots after an Iranian fast-attack craft approached two U.S. ships in the northern Gulf on Wednesday, a U.S. Defense official said. The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said three warning shots were fired from a .50 caliber gun after warning flares did not work. The incident started with three Iranian vessels, but there was only one Iranian vessel around by the time the warning shots were fired, the official said.

The former aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious will be recycled after 32 years of service, announced the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MOD) who sold the ship to Turkish company LEYAL Ship Recycling Ltd for around £2 million. Wärtsilä Re-gasification system for Norwegian Ship Conversion
Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the re-gasification system for an FSRU (Floating, Storage, Re-gasification Unit) conversion project that Höegh LNG plans to carry out on a modern LNG vessel. The contract was signed in August. The Wärtsilä re-gasification system to be supplied will feature regas technology using water glycol as the intermediate medium instead of propane. This provides a more compact solution being some 15 percent smaller and lighter than the propane based system.
Foreship Establishes Tallinn Subsidiary
Naval architect and marine engineering company Foreship has created a wholly-owned subsidiary located in Tallinn to strengthen ties with shipowners, shipyards and marine equipment suppliers in Estonia, and support the development of locally-based design skills. Foreship OÜ will commence operations on October 1 from its own premises, located in the brand new Öpik building within sight of Tallinn Airport, Lake Ülemiste and Tallinn Old Town.
