HHI's FSRU Unit equipped by GTT
GTT has received an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to equip a new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with its Mark III cryogenic membrane containment system. This order includes a firm vessel and one option. The FSRU of 170,000 m3 will be built at Hyundai's shipyard, in Ulsan (South Korea), on behalf of a European shipowner. The vessel will also be equipped with a Dual Fuel Diesel Engine motorization like standard LNG Carrier (LNGC). Delivery is scheduled in March 2019.
iSURVEY Bags rig positioning, surveying contract with Shell
iSURVEY has secured a non exclusive call-off contract with Shell UK Ltd, Shell NAM, Norske Shell and Shell E&P Ireland for the provision of rig positioning and surveying services. With an effective date of 1 January 2017, the three year contract, which has the option of up to two, one year extensions, will see iSURVEY provide non exclusive rig and surface positioning services, subsurface positioning and dimensional control and platform surveys to Shell’s mobile offshore drilling units.

Higher Shipping Rates Boost Baltic Index
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, rose on Wednesday due to strengthening rates across all vessel segments. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, was up 28 points, or 3.6 percent, at 806 points. The capesize index gained 95 points, or 11.1 percent, to close at 951 points.
ABB’s OCTOPUS for Greenland Heavylift Newbuilds
ABB’s OCTOPUS marine software was chosen for four new semi-submersible heavy lift vessels currently under construction at CSBC Corporation in Taiwan, with the first expected to go into service in 2017. The ships, owned by Greenland Heavylift Holdings, will transport gigantic cargoes such as oil rigs and jack-up rigs, with OCTOPUS providing a tailored route for each voyage that is updated with fresh weather data throughout the transportation.
New Pilot Boat for the Thames and Medway
Estuary Services Limited (ESL), a joint venture between the Port of London Authority (PLA) and Peel Ports London Medway, is continuing its fleet replacement plan and buying another new pilot boat for its pilot transfer operations serving the ports of London and Medway. ESL currently has a fleet of six vessels including two 17.1 meter ORC class vessels that carry marine pilots from the Kent coast to board ships, in the Thames Estuary.

Keel Laid for USS Frank E. Petersen
The keel of future guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen, Jr. (DDG 121) was ceremoniously laid Feb. 21 at Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard. Although official construction of DDG 121 began April 2016, the keel laying symbolically recognizes the ceremonial beginning of the ship. The keel was said to be "fairly and truly laid" and was authenticated by D'Arcy Neller, the ship's sponsor, and Donald Brabston, a master Ingalls shipbuilder.
