Norwegian Ferry Tests Autodocking System
A ferry owned by Norwegian operator Norled is the first in the world to experiment with autodocking technology.Equipped with Wärtsilä’s innovative autodocking system, the 83-meter ferry Folgefonn concluded three months of testing with harbor docking trials in April.The autodocking system activates some 2,000 meters from the berth and keeps the vessel transiting at its normal transit speed until it gradually slows down to activate the line-up and docking maneuver.

Baltic Index Snaps 13 Sessions of Gains
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, snapped 13 straight sessions of gains on Thursday, hurt by falling capesize rates. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax and supramax shipping vessels, was down one point, or 0.1 percent, at 1,375 points. The capesize index lost eight points, or 0.3 percent, at 2,306 points.

Singapore's Maritime Port Authority (MPA) is set to announce it is making use of mass-flow-meters (MFM) mandatory onboard marine gasoil barges used to refuel large ships, two people with knowledge of the matter said.
