Saltire Energy Invests £5M in Aberdeen
Saltire Energy has announced plans to expand its operations in Aberdeen following a £5 million investment in a 2.6-acre site in Badentoy, Portlethen. Planning permission has been secured for 4,650 sq. ft. of offices, a 12,500 sq. ft. warehouse and a 12,500 sq. ft. workshop on the new site with approximately 75,000 sq. ft. of additional open storage space. Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has invested close to £30million in the past six months increasing its international fleet of subsea support vessels by 40%. Most recently, the company signed a contract to charter EDT Jane, a newbuild remotely operated vehicle support vessel (ROVSV). The company now boasts a fleet of eight vessels and 15 Remote Operating Vehicles (ROV).

US, French Navies Conclude Combined Operations
Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HST CSG) and French Navy Task Force 473 concluded five weeks of combined carrier strike group operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR) Feb 2. SMIT Salvage Get Angola Jack-Up Platform Removal Contract
Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) subsidiary SMIT Salvage has been awarded a contract to remove a damaged jack-up platform from the seabed offshore Angola. Including the award of this contract, SMIT Salvage has acquired approximately USD 70 million of work year to date. During its installation in July 2013, the platform suffered a punch-through and subsequently rolled over and sank to a depth of 30 meters.
Oil Discovered in Second Oman Exploration Well
Masirah Oil Limited has announced the successful reach of the well target depth in the second exploration well in Block 50 Oman to its final depth of >3,000 metres into the Cambrian formation. Hydrocarbons were discovered in several formations with good oil sample extracted. The well will undergo data acquisition before setting the completion for testing. The well was drilled using the independent leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig Aban VII.
Pacific Drilling Releases Fleet Status Report & Revenue Guidance
Pacific Drilling says that the latest in its fleet of 5 of new ultra-deepwater drillships is in service. Two additional drillships are under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries for delivery in 2014, and an eighth rig is under construction for delivery in March 2015. Pacific Drilling is a fast growing company that says it is committed to becoming the industry’s preferred ultra-deepwater drilling contractor.
