Converteam Selected by HHI
Power conversion specialist Converteam has been selected by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) as designer and supplier of high efficiency electrical systems for three newbuild ultra-deepwater drillships for Noble Corporation, one of the worldâs largest offshore drilling contractors. The Hyundai Gusto P10000 designed drillships, rated for operations in up to 12,000 feet water depth, are under construction by HHI at their Ulsan facility in South Korea.

Alewijnse Noord Gets Order For Three PSVs
Alewijnse Noord BV, a subsidiary of Alewijnse Marine Systems based in Drachten, the Netherlands, has recently secured the largest order in its history. The contract is for the installation of the electrical systems on board three new Pilot Station Vessels (PSVs) for the Dutch Pilotage Services. The vessels will be constructed by Barkmeijer Shipyards at Stroobos in the Netherlands. The PSVs are designed to provide offshore accommodation for the crew of the pilot boats.

Keppel Secures B Class Jackup Rig Order
Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a contract with Vision Drilling Pte Ltd (Vision Drilling), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Offshore Drilling Limited (Dynamic Offshore Drilling), to build its first KFELS B Class jackup drilling rig for US$180 million. Slated for delivery in 1Q2013, the rig will be able to operate in water depths of 350 feet with a drilling depth of 30,000 feet and accommodate 120 men.

Two More Ships to Depart Suisun Bay Fleet
The departures mark the 22nd and 23rd ships to leave the National Defense Reserve Fleet since October 2009, when the Obama Administration announced its commitment to clean up the site and improve the surrounding environment. As a result, the U.S. Maritime Administration is more than four months ahead of schedule in removing obsolete U.S. ships from the Reserve Fleet.
