Damen Yacht Support Vessel Game Changer Sold

Dutch shipyard Damen has confirmed the successful sale of its 70-meter support vessel, Game Changer. The yacht will now return to Gorinchem in the Netherlands for further customisation. Game Changer  is Damen's fourth Yacht Support vessel sold in the 70-metre segment, proving the ongoing demand for large yachting solutions for worldwide adventures, helicopter and dive operations. Damen has a total of 12 Damen Yacht Support vessels delivered or in build. The next available Yacht Support vessel is a 55-metre YS 5009 Adventure, which will be delivered before the summer this year.

Shipbuilder MV Werften said it has begun building Crystal’s new luxury expedition yacht, Crystal Endeavor, with first steel cut on January 15 at its shipyard in Stralsun, Germany. RIBCRAFT Delivers Two Tour Boats

Rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) manufacturer RIBCRAFT announced the recent deliveries of two USCG Sub Chapter T Certified Tour Boats to customers in Hawaii and Florida. The two certified 30’ RIBCRAFT 9.0s – one to the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort in Hawaii and one to Aqua Adventure Tours in Florida – were built to meet the unique needs of each company. The vessels feature a combination of jockey-style pod seats and benches for accommodating up to 15 guests on eco and adventure tours.

Campaigns Aim to Restore Historic Landmark Vessel

The schooner Adventure, a U.S. National Historic Landmark, has been selected as an Official Project of Save America's Treasures, a public-private partnership between the White House Millennium Council and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The schooner Adventure joins a list of Official Projects that includes the Star Spangled Banner, the Washington Monument and Thomas Edison's workshop. The designation of "Official Project" recognizes the continuous efforts of The Gloucester Adventure, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring and preserving the fishing schooner. Through the countless hours and hard work of volunteers, funds have been raised to restore the bow, most of the port side, and the entire starboard side.

MPI Adventure Wins Sandbank OSS Commissioning Work

Vroon subsidiary MPI Adventure has been contracted to assist with the commissioning works on the offshore substation of the Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm. MPI Adventure will provide accommodation services, lifting operations and provision of supplies.   The Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 90 kilometers west of the island of Sylt in the German Bight. It will consist of 72 4-megawatt turbines which will also be installed by MPI Adventure as of summer 2016.

MV Northern Adventure to Undergo Refit

The MV Northern Adventure will undergo a refit from May 9 to 19 at the company’s Deas Pacific Marine facility in Richmond. The MV Northern Adventure has been experiencing some issues following its initial introduction to the BC Ferries’ fleet. BC Ferries wants to make sure these matters are fully addressed prior to the start of the busy summer season. The mid and north coast will be served by the Queen of Prince Rupert during this period. The Queen of Prince Rupert just completed a major five week refit and the vessel is now fully ready to return to service as the summer season approaches. On May 20, the MV Northern Adventure will join the Queen of Prince Rupert in providing service to the north.

Hurtigruten, Kleven Ink Explorer Ships Construction Deal

Norwegian exploration travel company Hurtigruten, has signed a letter of intent for the construction of up to four new explorer ships with Norwegian shipyard Kleven. The order for delivery in 2018 and 2019 is a move to meet growing demand for adventure travel from travellers in the U.S. and across the globe. The order includes the construction of two new state-of-the-art vessels, which will be designed and customized specifically for adventure-rich expedition voyages in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, as well as along the Norwegian coastline.

The U.S. Coast Guard is monitoring salvage attempts Wednesday of the Bald Head Island Ferry Adventure, which ran aground Tuesday in the vicinity of Battery Island near Southport, N.C. Personnel from Bald Head Island Transportation attempted to refloat the Adventure at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday during high tide without success. The owner of Bald Head Island Transportation is working to submit a salvage plan of the Adventure for Coast Guard approval before any additional action is taken.

NC Ferry Runs Aground, Multiple Injuries Reported

The U.S. Coast Guard and partner agencies are responding to a ferry grounding which reportedly caused multiple injuries after the Bald Head Island Ferry Adventure ran aground Tuesday in the vicinity of Battery Island near Southport, N.C. The crew of the Adventure, a 64-foot ferry, contacted Coast Guard Station Oak Island watchstanders via VHF-FM channel 16 at approximately 9 a.m., reporting they ran aground and passengers aboard were in need of medical assistance. MPI Adventure Installs first Offshore Wind turbine on Sandbank

Wind Turbine Installation Vessel MPI Adventure installed the first of 72 SWT-4.0-130 offshore wind turbines on the Sandbank offshore wind farm. MPI Adventure is capable of installing 6 of these complete offshore wind turbines per cycle. After MPI Adventure completed its contract to assist with the commissioning of the offshore substation on the Sandbank offshore wind farm, she has re-mobilized for the offshore wind turbine installation works. On July 28th, well in advance of its original schedule, the vessel now completed the installation of the first turbine.

Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas Arrives in N.Y. Harbor

A clear, sunny Saturday afternoon of November 10, set the stage for the arrival of the first passenger ship into New York Harbor following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The vessel, Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas, sailed into New York for a two-day tribute cruise for the families of the fallen firemen and police officers who were victim to the devastation at the World Trade Center. Royal Caribbean also plans to donate $50,000 to the Twin Towers Relief Fund. The 142,000-ton Adventure of the Seas - sister ship to Voyager and Explorer of the Seas - was christened at Pier 88 and named by representatives of the New York Police Department and New York Fire Department.

The Adventure of the Seas, newbuilding 1346, was delivered at Kvaerner Masa-Yards’ Turku shipyard. Adventure of the Seas is the third cruise ship in the Voyager-class for Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. The first two ships, Voyager of the Seas and Explorer of the Seas, were deliver in October 1999 and September 2000, respectively. The series continues with NB-1347, Navigator of the Seas and NB-1348. Adventure of the Seas has a gross tonnage of 137,300, and a passenger capacity of 3,800 passengers, a crew capacity of 1,200 persons, giving a total number of 5,020 people onboard. In addition to the total length of 1020ft., the breadth of 126 ft at waterline level and her height of 237 ft. This Post-Pamamax size has allowed for unique design feature and interior solutions.

UK shipyard, A&P managing director, Peter Child tested his nerves when he joined a dozen others to abseil down the largest dry dock on the UK’s south coast to raise money for charities. Mr Child and Adrian Richards, Chief Executive of BF Adventure in Penryn, were the first to test the ropes 50 feet above the huge dry dock at A&P Falmouth, which is 40m wide and 253m long – the size of two Wembley football pitches. The two companies share the same vision for supporting young people in Cornwall, including a focus on apprenticeships and the opportunities they provide.

Golden Stena Weco Invests in Chinese Tanker

Golden Stena Weco recently invested in its first tanker within the framework of the newly established joint venture. The 9,000 dwt tanker, called Golden Adventure, will be delivered from the Chinese shipyard Dongfang Shipbuilding in the next few days after reprofiling. “The Golden Adventure is the first tanker in our jointly owned fleet and will be employed in transporting Golden Agri’s palm oil cargoes mainly in Asia, more exactly from Indonesia and Malaysia to India and China”, says Erik Hånell, MD, Stena Weco. Golden Stena Weco is a joint venture between Stena Weco and the Indonesian palm oil producer Golden Agri Resources (GAR). The shipping and chartering company Golden Stena Weco recently inaugurated its office in Golden Agri Plaza in Singapore.

BC Ferries’ Northern Vessel Opens to Public

BC Ferries will host a series of open houses this month to give all members of the public an early preview of its newest ship, the MV Northern Adventure. The vessel will officially commence service on the north coast routes on March 31, 2007, pending completion of crew training and dock trials. Purchased last year and transported to British Columbia, the two-year old Northern Adventure has been completely renovated and modified for service on the north coast. Take a stroll on one of the vessel’s three spacious outer decks, which have been designed to optimize views and exposure to the region’s spectacular scenery, and check out the Lighthouse Café which allows customers to relax in the open air during the summer season.

Outfitting includes port and starboard side dive doors, large stern dive platform with two flip out dive ladders, aluminum tank rack for 30 dive bottles, tropical style open-backed wheelhouse with sunroof, mini foc'sle with head, 50-gal., fresh water wash down system, 150-gal. fuel system and Fortress anchoring system.
