Global LNG Demand to Rise by 35mt in 2019

Global liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply is set to rise by 35 million tons (mt) in 2019, Trend reports with reference to forecasts of Royal Dutch Shell. Acording to Shell’s latest annual LNG Outlook, Europe and Asia are expected to absorb all this additional supply.Strong demand for cleaner-burning fuel in Asia continued to drive rapid growth in liquefied natural gas (LNG) use in 2018, with global demand rising by 27 million tons to 319 million tons, according to Shell’s latest annual LNG Outlook. Shell expects demand to reach about 384 million tons in 2020.

Golar Bullish on LNG Market

Through the provision of cheaper and cleaner energy the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market will likely take market share from coal and oil and sustain industry growth levels of around 10% for the foreseeable future, said Golar LNG.The shipping company registered in Bermuda said that key markets continue to import record levels of LNG as they distance themselves from coal and nuclear, with Chinese and Korean 2018 demand up 41% and 18%, respectively.Lessons learned from gas shortages and last minute buying at the end of 2017 meant that China entered the winter buying market earlier in 2018.

Anadarko, Bharat Petroleum Sign LNG Deal

American petroleum and natural gas exploration and production company Anadarko, on behalf of the Mozambique Area 1 partners, signed a deal with Bharat Gas Resources (BGR) for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes from the Mozambique LNG development.The sale and purchase agreement (SPA) is for 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) for a term of 15 years. BGR is a wholly owned subsidiary of Government of India controlled  oil and gas giant Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.

Shell Acquires 26% Stake in Hazira LNG

EDF, Shell Form JV for New Jersey Offshore Wind

LNG Shipping Market in Recovery Stage: Flex LNG

Port Groups Join for Go Green Initiative

Baleària Acquires Visemar One

Spanish ferry company Baleària has decided to buy Visemar One, a 2010-built RoRo/passenger ship which has been part of the company’s fleet for seven years."Baleària has just invested close to 55 million euros (USD 62.4 mln) in the acquisition of the vessel Visemar One , which has been sailing for the company for seven years. With this purchase, the fleet of boats owned by Baleària reaches 26 units out of a total of 30," said a press release from the company.The ferry Visemar One was launched by the company in 2011 on the Barcelona-Palma route, and currently operates between València and Palma.

DNV GL Advises on Acquisition of UK's Wind Farm

DNV GL secured a leading role as technical advisor to GVO Wind Ltd and Bluemerang Capital Ltd, supporting the sale of an 80% stake of the 26.1 MW Ventus portfolio of wind projects. Ventus is the UK’s largest portfolio of feed-in-tariff wind turbines, comprising 53 operational projects located across the UK. The portfolio was acquired by Malaysian power utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). This is TNB’s second acquisition in the UK, which brings its renewables portfolio to a total capacity of approximately 280 MW.

Wärtsilä joins battle against ocean plastics

The Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has signed an agreement with the Seabin Project to join their global pilot programme, which addresses the worldwide littering problem affecting our oceans. The project aims at approaching the challenge from multiple angles with a key emphasis on education, research and technology. Wärtsilä will work in cooperation with Seabin Project for the next three years and has sponsored both the city and port of Helsinki's involvement with the programme.

Keppel to Deliver World's First Converted FLNGV

Keppel Offshore & Marine's (Keppel O&M) wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), will soon deliver the world's first converted Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNGV) owned by Golar Hilli Corporation (Golar), a subsidiary of Golar LNG Ltd. The vessel was named Hilli Episeyo at a ceremony in Keppel Shipyard today. Upon its completion, the FLNGV will be put in operation offshore Kribi, Cameroon for Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures and Perenco Cameroon SA, and will be the first FLNGV project in Africa.

Despite some 7,000 miles separating Ireland and Hawaii, the two islands have a lot in common. The islands’ peoples have always looked to their respective oceans for resources, inspiration and opportunity. Today, Irish company Ocean Energy announced its wave energy convertor OE Buoy will be built by Oregon-based Vigor and deployed at the U.S. Navy’s Wave Energy Test Site on the windward coast of the Hawaiian Island of O’ahu in the fall of 2018. Shell: LNG Supply Shortage Possible as Demand Surges

The global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market has continued to defy expectations of many market observers, with demand growing by 29 million tonnes to 293 million tonnes in 2017, according to Shell’s annual LNG Outlook. Such strong growth in demand is consistent with Shell’s first LNG Outlook, published in 2017. Based on current demand projections, Shell sees potential for a supply shortage developing in mid-2020s, unless new LNG production project commitments are made soon. Japan remained the world’s largest LNG importer in 2017…
