Eighth 24,188 TEU Ship Joins OOCL's Fleet

Hong Kong based ocean carrier Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of its eighth 24,188 TEU containership, OOCL Abu Dhabi.The vessel is the fourth in a series of six 24,188 TEU newbuilds to be delivered to OOCL by the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard in China. The ultra large containership is 400 meters long and 61.3 meters wide.OOCL Abu Dhabi was officially named during a ceremony at the shipyard on February 25.

24,188 TEU 'Mega Vessel' Delivered to OOCL

Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of another new 24,000 TEU mega vessel.Named OOCL Valencia during a ceremony at China's Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd., the newbuild is the seventh eco-friendly 24,188 TEU vessel in a series of 12 ordered by OOCL. NORDEN Orders Six Supramax Bulkers

Danish shipowner NORDEN has recently placed a newbuilding order for six dry cargo vessels from Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. ClassNK Grants First CybR-G Notation for Cyber Secure Ship Design

Classification society ClassNK said it has granted Cyber Resilience-Guideline (CybR-G) notation to Tateshina, a new oil tanker built by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd.(NACKS) for NYK Line. CybR-G notation represents that the ship design has incorporated cyber security measures in accordance with ClassNK’s “Guidelines for Designing Cyber Security Onboard Ships”, and that it is feasible for ship operation considering cyber security.ClassNK has released “Guidelines for Designing Cyber Security Onboard Ships” by compiling best practices for newbuilding designs of shipyards and shipowners, from the view of identifying computer systems to be protected from cyber attacks, and building a network to safeguard them.

Genco Buys Newbuild Ultramax Bulker Pair

Dry bulk shipping company Genco Shipping & Trading Limited announced on Wednesday that it has entered into agreements to acquire two 2022-built 61,000 dwt Ultramax vessels to be constructed at Dalian Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd. (DACKS). The vessels are expected to be delivered to Genco in January 2022.The purchases mark the fifth and sixth high specification, fuel-efficient Ultramax vessels that Genco has agreed to acquire since December 2020, doubling its core Ultramax presence over that time, the company said in a statement.Genco CEO, John C. Norden Orders Two More Bulk Carriers at NACKS

Norden announced Tuesday it has added two bulk carriers to an existing newbuilding contract with shipbuilder Nantong Cosco Khi Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), taking the total order to six vessels.The Danish shipowner said it has already sold two of the six vessels on sale and lease back terms, freeing up liquidity. The newbuilds are scheduled to be delivered from 2022.In addition, Norden said it bought a secondhand 2014 built Supramax bulk carrier scheduled to join its fleet in September.

Japanese public multinational corporation Kawasaki Heavy Industries (HKI)announced that it delivered the bulk carrier Divinegate for Indigo Marine Shipping at the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. Kawasaki Heavy to Build Ship in China

Nacks, LR Develop Dual-Fuelled MPV Design

Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. The design is an evolution of NACK’s established 28K MPV design; the new design is fitted with a 500m3 Type ‘C’ LNG fuel containment system located aft and on deck over the engine room and the LNG Fuel Supply System. The main engine is a MAN ME-GI high-pressure gas fuel system while the main electrical generator and boiler are in a low-pressure gas fuel system. Accommodation is located forward maximizing space for cargo operations and three deck cranes (2sets x 350T, 1 set x 100 T) are situated on the port rail.

Two Newbuilds Delivered to Star Bulk

Star Bulk Carriers Corp. took delivery on February 27 of M/V Honey Badger (ex HN NE 164) and M/V Wolverine (ex HN NE 165), two 61,000 dwt Ultramax bulk carriers built by Nantong COSCO KHI-Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS). The new vessels are the first two of four similar vessels ordered at NACKS, which are all built with modern specifications for low fuel consumption and reduced carbon emissions, Star Bulk said. Following the delivery of the vessels, the shipping company owns 66 dry bulk vessels on the water with a total carrying capacity of 6.8 million dwt, consisting of 19 Capesize, four Post-Panamax, 19 Kamsarmax, nine Panamax, four Ultramax, 10 Supramax vessels and one Handymax vessel.

Scorpio Order 11 Bulk Carriers from China Shipyards

Scorpio Bulkers Inc. has reached agreements with three yards in China to construct a minimum of 11 and up to 14 dry bulk carrier newbuildings. Scorpio Bulkers is a newly established company listed on the Norwegian OTC with offices in Monaco and New York. They have reached agreements with ChengXi Shipyard CO. Ltd. Dalian, COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd., and Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd. for the construction of the vessels for approximately $27 million each. Star Bulk Adds Three Vessels

Star Bulk Carriers Corp. announced that on July 15, 2015 it took delivery of M/V Goliath and M/V Maharaj, two 209,000 dwt Newcastlemax bulk carriers built by Nantong COSCO KHI-Ship Engineering Co. In addition, on July 22, 2015 Star Bulk took delivery of M/V Star Aquarius, a 61,000 dwt Ultramax bulk carrier built by Japan Marine United. Following these deliveries, Star Bulk owns seventy-two dry bulk vessels on the water, consisting of three Newcastlemax, eighteen Capesize, four Post-Panamax, twenty Kamsarmax, seven Panamax, nine Ultramax, ten Supramax vessels and one Handymax vessel, with a total carrying capacity of 7.5 million dwt.
