Croatian DIV Group is set to buy Kleven Verft, a Norwegian shipbuilding company specializing in the construction of offshore and cruise vessels.DIV, which owns the Brodosplit shipyard in Split Croatia, has signed an agreement to buy the Norwegian company based in Ulsteinvik, with the deal is expected to be executed in the next few weeks, Kleven said Monday.Kjetil Bollestad, CEO at Kleven, said he was happy the company was getting "a new and solid owner of the yard.""Through a difficult period, we have managed to deliver fantastic ships, as well as exploit the high competence at the shipyard.
Blueday System for new Trawler
The renovated NordnesGruppen trawler Nordbas will feature an integrated power system that will allow the ship to go diesel free for hours and run on renewable electricity.The new hybrid power system is being designed by Blueday Technology. Kleven Delivers Maersk Anchor Handler
Maersk Maker, the sixth and last of a series of six anchor handlers for Maersk Supply Service A/S, was delivered from Norwegian shipyard Kleven on Thursday.Built for operation in deepsea depths, the M-series vessel Maersk Maker had a naming ceremony at Kleven yard, with Rikke Eskjær as godmother. The vessel will leave Kleven in a few days, heading to Aberdeen and the spot market in the North Sea.Maersk Maker is of the Salt 200 type and has an open deck area of more than 800m2, with 102m2 covered deck area as well. Nowegian shipbuilder Kleven has delivered the fifth vessel in a series of six anchor handlers for Maersk Supply Service A/S.Built for deepwater operations, Mærsk Mobiliser of the so-called Starfish series is equipped with a range of innovative features, the builder said. The vessel is of Salt 200 design and has an open deck space of more than 800m2, with an additional covered deck space of 102m2. Rolls-Royce's Autocrossing System for 13 New Ferries
Rolls-Royce Marine has signed a deal to supply its Autocrossing system to a total of 13 new environmentally friendly ferries for the Norwegian company Fjord1. The vessels are currently being built by three yards in Turkey and two yards in Norway. All contracts also include two azipull propellers for each vessel with accompanying propeller control system from Rolls-Royce. With this contract, Rolls-Royce has sold autocrossing to a total of 18 new ferries to operate along the coast of Norway, of which 16 have been ordered by Fjord1 and two by another Norwegian ferry company, FosenNamsos Sjø.

Statoil Extends Contract with Viking Energy
Norwegian oil major Statoil has declared a one-year option for the Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Viking Energy from April this year, in direct continuation of current contract. Eidesvik said on Monday that Statoil exercised a one-year option for Viking Energy. The extension is set to begin in April this year. The vessel will be prepared for shore power, and equipment for better fuel consumption measurement will be installed. Viking Energy was the world's first LNG-powered offshore vessel when it was launched in 2003.
Kleven: MoU to Build Diamond Mining Ship
Kleven signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Namibian offshore diamond mining company De Beers Marine Namibia for the building of an offshore vessel purpose-designed to support seabed mining operations. Designed by Marin Teknikk of Norway, the 176m ship will be the longest vessel to date to be built at the Kleven yard in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The MoU follows Kleven's June 2016 delivery of SS Nujoma to De Beers Marine Namibia. Kleven, Lürssen Partner to Build Explorer Vessel
Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven said it has signed a contract with German based luxury yacht designer and builder Lürssen to collaborate for the delivery of a 100-meter-long exploration vessel newbuild for a non-disclosed customer. Kleven said the vessel will be built, partly outfitted and technically finalized at Kleven Verft in Norway, before final outfitting at Lürssen’s Blohm+Voss facility in Hamburg, Germany. The Lürssen Group recently joined a group of investors to collectively inject nearly $40 million into Norwegian shipyard.
Designer-built Adventure Cruise
The 2016 Polar Code has its first luxury-adventure cruise adherents for the long, new ice-free seasons in the high latitudes. Likewise, many designs winning over owners and explorers target exotic Asia-Pacific destinations. Competition is fierce among “designer-shipyards” seeking to build their designs, but their creations could face fewer hurdles to construction than the designs of independents without a yard. Concepts bound for the slipway have something else in common: new davits for large numbers of water craft.
