Deltamarin Signs Design Contract for Meriaura Open Deck Carrier

Deltamarin has signed a basic design contract with Jiangsu Zhenjiang shipyard (Group) CO., LTD for Meriaura’s new open deck carrier.Design work will start immediately at Deltamarin Finland, with delivery scheduled for early 2028. Robert Allan to Design All Electric Tug for Tianjin Port

Robert Allan Ltd. has been awarded a contract to design an AmpRA 3600 tug for Tianjin Port in Northern China.The AmpRA 3600 series tug will be constructed at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd.The order builds on a successful conventional propulsion design for the same owner and shipyard, with two vessels of similar hull form in service.The AmpRA 3600 will have all powering from batteries, with no generator sets onboard, making it a fully battery electric and diesel free ship handling tug.It will be the first Robert Allan Ltd.

FSG Nobiskrug Shipyards negotiations at "advanced stage"

FSG Nobiskrug shipyards has received several offers from potential investors. These are industry-related companies from Germany, not financial investors.This was reported by the provisional insolvency administrators Dr Christoph Morgen and Hendrik Gittermann at an event in Rendsburg on 17 January. The occasion was the visit of Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Guenther and State Minister of Economic Affairs Claus Ruhe Madsen to a staff meeting at the invitation of the workers’ union “IG Metall Rendsburg”.“Negotiations with interested parties are well advanced.

Clock is Ticking on German Shipyard to find Investors to Survive

The financing of the FSG-Nobiskrug Shipyard sites in Rendsburg and Flensburg are secured until January, 31 2025, via the insolvency substitute benefits and a loan secured by the guarantee bank of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. However, the future is dependent on the successful search for investors to revitalize the sites by completing existing and new orders.Despite the difficult situation, several interested investors have already visited the shipyard sites in Rendsburg and Flensburg within the first 10 days after the insolvency proceedings were opened on December 12, 2024.

GTT Lands Tank Design Order for Six Ultra Large Ethane Carriers

French engineering company GTT has received an order from its partner Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) for the tank design of six Ultra Large Ethane Carriers (ULEC), on behalf of ship-owner Eastern Pacific Shipping.GTT will design the tanks of these unique ULEC, which will each offer a capacity of 150,000 m3, the largest ever to be built for ethane transport.The tanks will be fitted with the Mark III membrane containment system developed by GTT. Washington State Ferries Goes Out to Bid for New Hybrid-electric Vessels

Deliveries will begin in 2028 if all goes well. Delays and escalating costs have bedeviled the procurement process up until now.Washington State Ferries on Thursday published an invitation to bid on building five new hybrid-electric ferries, an overdue achievement that promises to eventually bring more reliability to cross-Sound ferry service.It’s the first time in more than 50 years that the state will accept bids from shipyards nationwide to construct its vessels. U.S.-based classification ABS on Wednesday announced it is expanding its partnership with Singaporean shipbuilding group Seatrium to advance cutting-edge marine and technology projects that target decarbonization and energy transition in the marine and offshore sectors.The newly signed three-year Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA) entitled “Accelerating Decarbonization and Energy Transition” is a foundation for further collaboration on a succession of state-of-the-art projects under four broad themes: decarbonization, electrification, new energies and digital transformation, ABS said.

German Government Funds Rotor Sail Install on Baltrader Cement Carrier

The German government is providing funding to support the installation of an auxiliary wind propulsion system on board a cement carrier vessel.Hamburg-based Baltrader Capital GmbH & Co. KG. has signed a contract with wind propulsion systems provider Norsepower for the delivery of one 24m x 4m sized rotor sail in summer 2024. The product will be fitted on the newest cement carrier of the Baltrader fleet, Cemcommander, designed by SDC Ship Design & Consultants GmbH and built by Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd.The Norsepower rotor sail is a modernized version of the Flettner rotor.

China is making fast inroads in the market for newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers as local and foreign shipowners turn to its shipbuilders for the specialty vessels because long dominant yards in South Korea are fully booked. World's First IMO Type B Very Large Ethane Carrier Launched

The world's first IMO Type B very large ethane carrier (VLEC), the Pacific Ineos Belstaff, has been launched at Jiangnan Shipyard in China.The first of an order of four of the largest VLECs ever commissioned, the ABS-Classed 99,000 cbm dual-fuel vessel is designed for long haul ethane transportation but can also handle other liquified gas cargoes such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ethylene.As a tradition, Jiangnan always gives a nickname to a newly developed ship. Jiangnan has assigned this novel VLEC as Bluebonnet, the state flower of Texas, the home state of ABS’ world headquarters.

GTT Wins First LNG Tank Design Order from Jiangnan

GTT announced it received in July an order from the Chinese Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. for the cargo handling system and tank design of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier on behalf of the Chinese ship-owner JOVO.This is GTT’s first order for a membrane LNG carrier from Jiangnan, making the shipyard the second Chinese LNG carrier yard to construct a vessel with GTT technology.GTT will design the tanks of the vessel with a cargo capacity 79,800 cubic meters. The vessel will be fitted with the GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system and will be the first LNG carrier built in China to be fitted with the Mark III technology family.The vessel will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Wärtsilä Tech Tapped for 12 LNG-fuelled Container Ships

Wärtsilä was selected to supply a broad scope of solutions for new LNG-fuelled container ships ordered by CMA CGM, on its latest series comprises 12 container vessels to be built in China. Six 13,000 TEU container vessels are being built at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) CO. Ltd, with the other six 15,000 TEU container vessels under construction at the Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery to the yards commencing in 2022, and the first of the 12 vessels is expected to be launched in Q3 2023.

Golden Ocean Orders Three Kamsarmax Newbuilds, Sells Two Ultramaxes

Dry bulk shipowner Golden Ocean Group on Friday announced it has entered into agreements for the construction of three bulk carrier newbuilds, as well as for the sale of two owned bulkers.The newbuilds will be 85,000 dwt ECO-type dual-fuel Kamsarmax vessels constructed at the same Chinese shipyard group as the company's seven previously contracted newbuilds. Deliveries are scheduled to take place from the third quarter of 2024 through the first quarter of 2025.The aggregate sale price of the Ultramax vessels Golden Cecilie and Golden Cathrine is $63 million, and Golden Ocean said it expects to record a gain of approximately $22 million from sale and receive net cash proceeds of approximately $41 million in late Q3/early Q4 2022.
