Meyer Turku Group's results for 2023 indicate the company's turnover was 1.43 billion euros, which means a growth of 10.6% compared to the previous year.Both the turnover and the number of personnel have been growing for three consecutive years. World's Largest Cruise Ship: Meyer Turku Delivers Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas

Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku on Monday delivered the world's largest cruise ship, the 248,655 GT Icon of the Seas, to U.S.-based Royal Caribbean International.The 365-meter-long cruise ship has 20 decks (including 18 guest decks) and surpasses the previous world's largest, Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class Allure of the Seas. With 2,805 staterooms, Icon is able to carry 5,610 passengers at double occupancy, or up to 7,600 passengers if every cabin is maxed out—another cruise industry record.

Åbo Akademi and Meyer Turku Deepen Green Transition Cooperation

The long-standing cooperation between Åbo Akademi and Meyer Turku has been further strengthened with the signing of a partnership agreement.The agreement period is five years and the focus lies initially on Åbo Akademi's Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology and Meyer Turku's Business Finland funded green transition program NEcOLEAP. An important form of practical cooperation will be the "green transition lab", a shared workspace to be established on the Åbo Akademi campus, which supports the interaction between researchers and industry.

Meyer Turku Increased Turnover in 2022

Meyer Turku Group has published its 2022 financial results indicating a positive turnaround on the previous year.The Group’s turnover was 1.30 billion euros, up about 200 million euros on 2021. World's Largest Cruise Ship Floated Out in Finland

Finland's Meyer Turku shipyard has floated out what it says is the world's largest and Royal Caribbean International’s most environmentally friendly cruise ship, Icon of the Seas.During the upcoming weekend, the ship will be moved to the outfitting dock, where its now fully assembled hull will be finished into "a magnificent cruise ship" during next year."Outfitting of the ship is a challenging job, the end result of which is to build an unprecedentedly versatile vacation possibilities on the ship.

Finland-based cruise shipbuilder Meyer Turku saw its full-year 2021 net loss widen, despite a somewhat higher turnover compared to 2020. Meyer Turku Announces Shipyard Layoffs

Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku said it will permanently lay off 84 people from outfitting and design functions upon the conclusion of YT-negotiations on Tuesday. The number includes nine blue-collar and 75 white-collar workers.The shipyard, which specializes in cruise ship and large passenger vessel construction, has been hardly hit by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Including today's job cuts and another round of layoffs announced in August, Meyer Turku has let go 250 people, which is below its original estimate of 450 from the start of negotiations in April.

Meyer Werft to Launch 3 Cruise Ships in 2020

German shipyard Meyer Werft GmbH & Co. KG is all set to to launch three cruise ships in 2020. During the shipyard has handed over three modern cruise ships to international cruise lines. "In the last twelve months alone, we have taken on 395 new employees in Papenburg, thus enlarging our team to more than 3625 people. We continue to recruit new col-leagues in all parts of the shipyard," said Tim Meyer, Managing Director of Meyer Werft.The shipyard has taken on all the 45 trainees who passed their final examinations.
